Would have happily had him back but also not gutted that he has gone elsewhere.

I think if we had not been in embargo until late July, we probably would have taken him early but our recruitment has moved on. Will probably need a bit of time to recover from the horrors of the Ince era and hope he gets it there. Though as he has come in from Forest, I doubt the Derby fans will give him much leeway.

Think we will end up with just a loan signing or two. Be interesting if they go for youngsters or more experienced players. Personally would like someone like Dwight Gayle and a winger on loan. Interesting to see Lewis Baker not getting any game time at stoke too, wonder if he’ll fancy dropping down a division. Would like to see Steve sessangong arrive too. Plenty of experience and can play both full back positions and still young.

Maybe offload Holmes to lower mid championship side and possible Carroll if he isn’t in the managers plans.

Steve Sessegnon has signed for Wigan.

Would be very happy with George Cox coming in if mentioned before. Think any deals this week will either be loans (mix of youth and experience) or a permanent signing a la Elliott/Savage which comes out of nowhere.

Free agents can still sign after the window and there is a surprising amount of quality still out there who may be biding time but would be more likely to sign once the window has closed and they can see that both this months wages and the 125% bond have been paid.

See Josh Onomah is a free agent - know we were interested in him at one point.

Just looked at that list and I think someone like Joe Bennett might be a decent signing for a season, just to have an experienced LB into the squad that can help guide Carson throughout the season and come in if needs be, don't think his wages would be massive either now.

Luke Freeman similar to the above, a well-seasoned pro with a bit of versatility might be a decent option to help the likes of Vickers, Camara, Tuma etc, although would be better if we moved on Ejaria as well and then got Freeman in.

Onomah was on trial at Stoke, so would be a massive coup if we were to persuade him to come down to League One.

Had a look at the list for the other UK/Ireland nations:

I wouldn't mind if we had a look at Lewis Strapp (if he's recovered from his injury). 23 year-old left-back most recently at Morton (played about 100 games for them), good crosser of the ball, got a long throw on him, I think he'd be a player of a similar standard to NGW - so could be a replacement for him if he leaves. I think his injury was an ACL, so we would need to be careful in that regard; cannot see his wages being a problem. Although as said above, it may be better if we had a more experienced LB to help Carson develop.

Coming to League One might not be the main issue
Playing for £2.50 per week with the possibility of not getting paid at all, however ......

We're close to the point of only being able to get those that no-one else wants ...... again

James Earnshaw tweeted that he is expecting an interesting week of incomings and outcomings and the club are looking around at the moment.

Nothing groundbreaking there.

Had to check, but the transfer window closes at 11pm on Friday night (1 September). If we're interested in unattached players, then we won't have to worry about that deadline; loans have to be completed by then.

I personally don't see us doing very much, unless someone gets sold (but I can't think who'd want of our transfer listed players - the outfield ones at least).

Wareham, Pereira and Clarke will all presumably be signed but don't think they have to be completed before Saturday unless the club get wind of another club getting interested).

Bouzanis most likely to leave of course. Be surprised if any of the other three leave to be honest but holding out hope for final day madness that might see Forest bid a million or two for Holmes.

God you lack ambition ... should be at least 10 million for Holmes.

Big Daz, the man from the Mirror reports:

Believe Reading asked Cardiff about availability of Rubin Colwill AND former midfielder Andy Rinomhota last week. No to Colwill but Rinomhota could yet leave on loan if given green light. Likely to be strong interest if made available

Rinomhota has been really ropey since leaving so it's a no for me.

Saw that on AC, sounds like he’ll be off. Bouzanis likely off as well according to Big D

Not sure on Rino - been poor for a while but think he’d do a job in this div

Could now do with a striker with a bit of experience.
