The "jouranlist" reporting the ongoing developments seems to be backing away a little - stating talks have been positive but the club want to take their time on the appointment.

Wonder how credible that chap is

Anyway sounds fairly hopeful. They should take a bit of time and evaluate anyone decent who is interested but it’s certainly be hard to find someone who looks stronger on paper

Under most circumstances I'd say taking care would be a good move. But for Wilder you just give him the job.

Not that I believe any of it.

He can barely string a sentence together so I'd say the chances of him being a real journalist are pretty slim.

I can't see us getting anybody better personally speaking, if talks are positive and he's interested, we should certainly look to get him at the earliest possible opportunity, it benefits the club massively, getting the manager in place early and (on paper at least) a good one.

Carlton Palmer on Wilder to Reading rumours:

"The next appointment is vital for Reading, they need to get that right.

"I think it would be a smart move for Chris, he knows the league, but Chris has to make sure that it's right for him, that the club is in the right financial position so he can make a challenge to take the club back to the Championship.

"The club are going to blame Paul Ince, but the simple facts are that they have been relegated due to the six-point deduction for not following an agreed business plan with the EFL.

"Chris has got to be careful, his next move has got to be spot on and he's got to be successful, but I think it would be a good appointment for both Chris and Reading."

To be fair a 1/2 would be seven times better than what we've had so far.
