Takeover would be great but goes further than club statements about seeking "investment". The Club have never suggested that Dai wanted to sell. Perhaps he's starting to smell the coffee and realising there's no way to recover the £200m he's pissed away. Let's hope so.

Football League world also reporting 3 parties interested. One in advanced talks is concerned about the incoming points deductions and unpaid bills. Makes me wonder if they have the money to buy but not to run the club.

The pace is the concern. 4 more points lost because of the impending payday is very possible, which then creates further negotiation delays. Before you know it the HMRC matter is more pressing and then October payday is due, by which time we could be well on our way to L2 with no resolution.

It just needs to be resolved quickly. It's pretty common in M&A to have variable consideration terms. Surely they could afford £15m up front and a 2nd amount due in 3 years dependent upon our division at that point. Mitigates the impact of points deductions. And if they also need to inject £5m working capital or so, then this can easily be identified through due diligence and used in negotiations.

People talk about possible sticking points, but if there is a desire by both parties to get the deal done then these are nothing to hold it up.

Reading’s cash crisis is under further scrutiny after the League One club were placed under a transfer embargo for failing to pay HMRC on time.

After missing another deadline for the tax bill to be paid, Reading will be placed under restrictions by the Football League and are also facing a fourth winding up order in another embarrassment for owner Dai Yongge.

Reading are also in danger of sustaining another points deduction if they fail to pay wages to players and staff this Friday.

Yongge is under huge pressure to sell up after racking up 16 points in deductions for breaching the EFL’s financial rules. Fans are set to protest this weekend during the home match against Burton Albion, as Yongge’s turbulent tenure lurches from one crisis to another.

However, it is understood that at least three parties have registered interest in buying the club in recent weeks. One of those parties is advanced in negotiations but the main concern is how the points deductions are having an adverse effect on the club’s valuation.

Yongge, who is based in China, is struggling to move money into England due to the government imposing limits on capital and he was charged last week with misconduct. Yongge has been charged directly by the EFL after he failed to deposit 125 per cent of the wage bill into an allocated account.

The failure to pay HMRC on time – which was understood to have been a date last week – will result in a transfer embargo.

It will be the third time Reading have failed to pay their tax bill on time, with the club threatened with a third winding up order in June.

Reading were relegated from the Championship last season and are currently 22nd in the third tier after having four points deducted.

Anybody would be worried about buying a business that currently isn't fulfilling it's obligations to pay tax and wages, for whatever reason that may be. It's a tough gig taking on the club at the moment because there is a whole lot of mess to sort out, let alone what division we could be playing in by the time any takeover is complete. If we keep getting handed down points deductions each month then that makes it all the more likely that it will be L2.
