how am I a muppet? It is confirmed as per my twitter link

Are you trolling or something?

The tweet says: "League One side Reading are set to sign Theo Walcott".

SET TO SIGN... there's nothing confirmed about it. It's not on the official site, he hasn't signed anything. It's like Wilder all over again.

:| :| :| :| :| :|

SET TO SIGN = HE WILL SIGN

Fool

We were set to appoint Chris Wilder just recently, is he our manager?

Going back a few years, we were set to sign Tommy Smith - Bradford were set to sign Stephen Hunt - am sure there are many more recent opportunities but until there is official confirmation its not confirmed.

Aren't we under an embargo....we can't sign anyone. However we can agree contracts and have them lined up for when the embargo is lifted.....unless they players get bored of waiting.

I thought the embargo ended on 1st July

We may still be restricted but we can at least sign players. We'll just have to offer them literal peanuts.

If the HMRC charge is still hanging over us then that is an automatic embargo.

The agreed decision closed on the 1st July - as of now, the EFL Embargo Reporting Service does still show breach of P&S.

Anyway, we are still able to sign players in embargo, you just can't pay a fee for them and the deal needs to be ratified - also if we don't have enough "permitted players" you are usually allowed to sign players until you do.

All these very useful facts would be really good if the club actually clearly outlined what it all means. E.g. a current status. What the charges are, what they mean, restrictions, etc.

Not been at Bearwood since the start of the Spain trip according to Antony Smith.

In fairness he's better than league 1 and is prob getting offers from the champ.

Expect he was only there in the first place to keep his fitness up.

It sounds like this is happening. Apparently, we’re in contract negotiations with him.

Ruben said in an interview the other day, that Theo is deciding if he wants to carry on playing or taking up coaching. If he still lives locally (or still has ties to Thatcham) playing with a view to coaching with us later could be a good move for him.

I read this too Theo is still deciding.

I’d happily have him here as a player or any other role we can offer him.

Some sleuths on Twitter have married up the boots hanging under the vacant #22 spot in the Tyler Bindon welcome photo, with Walcott’s boots. It’s a stretch but who knows….

Would still love to see that happen, even only for 3 or 4 games before he gets the inevitable season long injury.

Probably his boots as he was training there, doesn't mean he is signing though. Imagine if he does though, it would be in the next week or so.

I find it strange there is zero other transfer speculation about Theo(as far as i have seen)

He could still play in the prem and definately in the Championship. I find it strange its all a bit too quiet. That could be a good sign for us that his only interest lies with us
