Dirk Gently Met and spoke to Eddie tonight at the Royal Families bash.

Really nice bloke, very modest and he answered the question "so, are you going to be joining the Royals" he answered "I very much hope so."

He also signed an autograph and had his picture taken and seemed amazed that anyone would be interested in him.

Top work fella!

It's the little things like that which will make him want to come here.

The whole year inn Panama or not, a 17-minute hattrick is still quite good.

What's wrong with Panama national team? I rate Panama. :D

Wasn't really that long a conversation, so didn't go into any real details, but I got the impression he is just training with the team. He spent most of the evening with Sonks (who, at one stage, bid against himself 3 times in one of the auctions!)

Sounds a nice bloke. Bound to be caught out a little by the fact that proper football actually means something over here so that could faze him a bit.

He's here just to train with the team, which he has been doing (although I believe he's got a slight injury at the moment) over the next week or two. I guess if we like what we see we'll be taking things further with the MSL

Watch this space.

That must be a fantastic restaurant in Rejykavik for Sonks to bid against himself for it!!!

Friend of mine used to be a coach in the US and is now a sports journalist and knows a lot about US soccer (he's interviewed, Bobby, Marcus and Coppell). He said the following about Eddie Johnson:

"Yes he is good. Knows how to create space for himself. And is comfortable on the ball. Also fast and strong.

Against the Czechs in Germany only one to cause any problems...ie has balls.

Trouble....he has to be the main man in the team and is very sensitive. So
it will take him a while to settle, but he's worth probably 10 -15 goals a
season.

Dempsey is the player at the moment, he can play."

I wouldn't be too disappointed if we signed either Johnson or Dempsey.

But I was also hopeful that we would sign Sztela last winter when he came to train with us, and nothing happened there - so I won't get my hopes up too much.

An American, even one from Nassau, Florida, would never say I "very much" hope so.

If EJ did say anything, the adverb would have been "really." Or, more vernacularly, "sure". Or, "f.....ng", but not on Reading Families day.

Did you really speak to him?

The 17 Bus
2 world wars, 1 world cup Coppell is god.

He turns water into wine, and a player with the slightest potential into a star.

If he's good enough for Coppell, he's good enough for me.

Let's hope he does have something Coppell is looking for.

Bollox..... Owusu Brooker the list goes on

tw@t

look at any manager in the world and you can do that:

wenger- Richard Wright, Jeffers, Pennant, Bentley , the list goes on

Ferguson- carrick, djemba djemba, veron the list goes on

benitez-- nuff said

its about the ratio of bad to good, and coppell is proven to get th ebest out of people or ship em out.

he is a god

and you are a tit

I thought he came across well on the interview on Reading World, he said that the premiership is the place to be and he feels he needs to test himself against the best. I think if he puts in a good show during his "educational sessions" then I wouldn't be surprised to see him come across in January permanently.

What planet are you on? bentley came through arsenal's youth academy and was NOT bought, pennant didn't cost much from notts county and was hardly a gamble. Carrick is a big part of untied playing so well in recent weeks, so I dont know what thats about. I suggest you take up another sport.
