Pardew prepares for Royals return - RUMOUR

by Deathy » 17 Mar 2009 14:12

Just a rumour. Can't back it up really, as it's from the father in-law, but has allegedly been seen having dinner recently with John Madejski in Henley.

If Steve Coppell is adamant about a 'break' after this season, I suppose we must have at least half an eye on replacements.

Anyways, just a rumour. :|

Lawrie Sanchez would be a better option, than Parjudus. :)

Get a grip...

He's never coming back, well at least while JM is chairman.

Pardew has lost all credibility with his Madj over teh way he jacked in his contract, I can't see any way he'd have him back.

As far as I understand it JM and AP have made it up and are at least on friendly terms though not bosom buddies.

I could see AP returning (or at least be considered) if SC decided not to continue with his current position.

It could be that AP perhaps will be doing some gardening over the summer to help the pitch into better condition next season.

I have mentioned on here before that I can see Pardew being the next manager if Coppell decides to leave Reading at the end of the season. Pardew and Coppell are still in contact and I imagine John Madj' seeing Pardew fitting the Coppell mould if things change at the end of the season and therefore continuity. Sure, there are question marks if this were to happen, but JM does want to sell up in not too long. Also Pardew was on the RFC website a week or two ago rumoured to be doing a bit of scouting during a reserve game...or is he doing a bit of homework here preparing himself for next season??? Caskey was also there at this reserve game, and someone has mentioned on Hob Nob that Caskey was sitting with the Reading fans at last night's game at Doncaster. Pardew's future assistant or is Caskey working as a scout at the moment? If not, then has he not got anything better to do than travel to Doncaster on a Tuesday evening?

Caskey is often in the Reading end with the supporters. He gets a fair few spotteds.

The succession plan is already in place for when Coppell leaves. I could see Pards perhaps in an advisory role but not as manager.

Yep could see that happening, Pardew has worked within the financial "handcuffs" that JM insists on, and that is a factor that will be prominent in any managerial replacement, might not be that Pardew is the outstanding choice but that he is the only one !!

Why would we want to employ a tactically limited failed bullshit merchant like Pardew - his future is surely in double glazing.

Look at his managerial career and tell me seriously that he failed?

His time has been and gone nobody is now going to give him a large budget that he requires for his sub Coppell 442 toss to be successful- without big financial backing he would be better off in the Blue Square getting his lads to be 'at it' - the only way I'd want him at the Mad Stad is refitting the windows on the executive boxes.

Depends how you judge it....

Currently you would say he is a failed manager having been sacked after an unsuccesful period at a club and not having found another club wanting to employ him.

His time at Reading was pretty successful, his time at West Ham a bit of a mixed bag but probably more good than bad.

How do you know the succession plan is already in place - and what sort of plan is it?? I would be extremely surprised if Pardew was welcomed back here with open arms.
