Marcus Williams.....

by Wycombe Royal » 07 May 2010 16:57

A Doncaster fan reckons we are signing this guy:

Well he is a left back.......and he is out of contract (but has been offered a new deal)

Makes sense if Armstrong is as bad as feared. William's is very average, but also cheap so would give us cover and would not take out much from the budget. Leaving us to pursue 1st choice target.

Would certainly signel an exit for Cummings or Kelly too. Prob Cummings if he can be sold.

Why, can Williams play at right back too?

Since his debut five seasons ago he is yet to score a goal!

Does not sound like the attacking full back we need...

Here is the "source" of his info:

Marcus Williams has definatley signed for Reading mate. It's on his brothers facebook and all his mates, they're from same area as i am. If it's a hoax or whatever i'd be very surprised

Not but Kelly can. Without signing a back up
left back u have Kelly as ur back up
left back Cummings as back up for the right. Cummings by all acounts is on a surprisingly high wage.

Williams has had an excellent season, and has got better every year he has played in the first team. He has pace, is good going forward, the defensive part of his game is improving all the time and he's still relatively young. He'll not be as big a loss as the likes of Hayes and Hooper for obvious reasons in that they score all the goals and get the plaudits, but I, for one, think we'll miss Marcus Williams next season.

Hullberside report he has signed - apparently.

Not meaning to piss on our chips an all but I noticed one of the last comments on that link was someone mentioning that he was at Leeds' promotion party. He might just have a mate who plays for them but I could easily see Leeds being his destination really, not far from Scunnie etc.

Looking more and more unlikely Bertrand will come back. With the new squad rules it looks more likely he will be named as part of the 25. Arnesen was at the Peterbrough game and was impressed by his development, if he doesn't make the 25 we reckon he could go to another prem team

Maybe we should have a Left Back Rumour/Speculation section of HNA.
