Basingstoke Bus

by fandroid 30004 » 14 Mar 2007 13:22

Can anyone confirm that the Basingstoke to Madstad bus actually exists? We tried waiting for it for the Aston Villa game (after having done the timetable arithmetic), but resorted to the train when it was 10 minutes beyond the theoretical schedule.

When Network Rail entirely demolish the Basingstoke rail system for 10 days over Easter, a direct bus would be very useful !

It may have been better to check with the bus company rather than relying on "theoretical" timetables ...

I don't know the answer though

I've seen the bus at the Mad Stad if that helps, big white/red/orange/blue stagecoach double decker.

I've caught the odd bus in my time and FWIW, they are sometimes more than 10 minutes late.

I got the bus to Villa. It was about 20 minutes late getting to Tadley, you probably just missed it.

Thanks everyone for your observations and experiences. I became a bit confused because the Bas bus seemed to fall off the publicity radar after it was first announced. It's there OK on the Stagecoach website now, but I couldn't see the actual bus when I went in search at the Madstad just before the Pompey game. I guess I'll just have to be more patient for the Liverpool and Fulham games, when the rail system will have dissolved into chaos.

The 'outlying' buses pick up from the roundabout on the A33 near Costco, so head that way rather than over to the PArk And Ride which is where the 'urban' buses leave from.
