With this over-priced 'Gourmet Burgers' people have a choice to either

a) Walk along to the other end of the stand, where the queues will be twice as big
b) Pay stupid prices at the 'gourmet' place, in order to get back to their seat for the game
c) Go hungry

Or eat before you go out? :?

Sure, but a lot of people like getting food out at football as a 'treat'. I, personally, normally eat before or afterwards - but still think that these rip off prices are bloody disgusting!

Yep, you cant beat a lovely bit of cows scrotum to start a good day out

The ammount of people who buy them is amooooosing!

If people think the food served at any football match in this country counts as a treat then they have a problem !!

Actually I do recall Tranmere used to do very good bacon sarnies....

If you buy any products at the ground other than beer (which is still overpriced and crap) then you are a complete mug

I honestly thought Reading fans could come up with less valid things to complain about than they already do (new shirts, away fans standing, Oliver Holt) but there's always the capacity to surprise I guess

 I'd write to Martin Salter if I was you Seb.

Again, if they want this 'treat', then that's their choice to pay over the odds for a crap burger, or queue up for longer to pay slightly less for a crap burger.

Surely if you really want a 'treat', then McDonalds, KFC or Pizza Hut are pretty close by

Well I saw this van, but didn't examine the prices or see the food. But all it is, is another option.

The normal food you buy from vans when you need it is vastly over priced, for the horrible quality it is, anyway. But as they say they are better quality and what have you, I'd imagine them to be similar to the taste sensation I had in the Antigallican at Charlton, which was much better quality than the standard van rat burger. But this was only £2.50. So I reckon this van would be a rip off the same as anywhere else. Higher quality, but still an enormous rip off.

That Friday Feeling Take food with you

last year i used to take my own food and drink or eat before the match.....

This year i usually have a cavery at the world up side done pub before the match...excellent value for £3.50 and cheap beer too......unfortunetly no time to eat last saturday, so resorted to having one of the £4 dogfood burgers...it was awful...not even worth 4p, let alone £4

next year i will do the same but wont park in the ground either as I will not be buying a carpark ticket as its a waste of time as i dont like being a prisoner....a capark ticket this season i have used about 4 times ......almost £30 a time what a priviledge!!

Dirk Gently Why is it "a disgrace"?
Outrageous ticket prices are "a disgrace". Excessive bus fares or car park fees would be "a disgrace", because you need to pay to watch the match.

But this is a burger! If it's too expensive, don't buy it!

To take your argument against Seb moaning about burger prices, you don't have to go so it would just be market forces pushing up the ticket price.....

You can't have it both ways Dirk!

The food at all places of entertainment where they have a monopoly are unjustly high. The only way to bring them down is for people to stop buying them....it won't happen though.

You're quite right - people don't have to go and more and more are finding they can't any more, even though prices have been frozen.

If all food prices were at that level I'd agree with you about food, but this is obviously an attempt to sell a "premium product" - at a premium price, and as such if people think it's too expensive they should just walk away.

Exactly, and Reading Town is still within most peoples price range if they don't like the premium product served up at Madjeski!

Agreed! Sadly that's what professional football is all about in the 21st century.

I have not bought something from those vans since they put the prices up 4 years ago.

Is it too much for people to go without a burger for 110 mins??? taking in to account half time and the 5 mins it would take to walk to Mcdonalds?

As already said. if they dont sell any they will soon drop their prices

Unfortunately yes, but you can't have a pop at Seb for moaning about the extortionate price of food when also campaigning for fair ticket prices...
