Royal Lady I voted 13th-14th but that was before reading on teletext that Seol wants to go to Fulham.

So, 11th - 12th now I guess?

As we managed 8th last season with a young squad that is only getting better, I'll leave the doom and gloom to those who stilll want to w@nk over the average Sidwell :? .................................... I think we'll scrape the points required for that European tour!

7th-8th

Mid table will do nicely.

So most people think we'll do significantly worse this season than last. I wonder, are these the same people who had us down as favourites for relegation last year and would have been more than happy with 17th place? What's strange is the fact that some Reading fans seem to massively overestimate the level of the competition; OK there are five (maybe six) teams who will definitely finish above us this season but other than that I can't see many other squads worth worrying about too much.

Most of the Reading players are good enough to get into the majority of Premier League squads, and I don't think the fans of many other teams would be complaining if they had our manager...

I think most people are just being over cautious.

I think we'll stay up so that's what I'm predicting. That way I'll enjoy it more if we do as well again.

Last season, every player proved that they belong to this Premier League, and made us ever so happy in both result and performance.
So, we should support them whatever the outcome this season will be.
We all aware that any result apart from religation will do, and hope attractive football continues.
Personally, I voted for "top of the bottom half", 11th to 12th.

I fear for the worst if the injury situation doesn't improve PDQ and remain good, Seol leaves and we don't succeed in getting some more good new faces in before this transfer window shuts.

Given that, I'd happily settle for one above the drop, although I'm not sure how I'll handle the worry of spending long hovering just over the trap door.

Given Reading has held steady with last season's squad and other teams, such as Portsmouth, that finished just below us have strengthened, then it feels like we'll slip down to 11-12. (and that would be a very good result in my humble view)

Bottom 4, sorry.

I am happy to admit that my prediction of 19th place last season was abysmal, but teams around us, and more importantly, teams I might have expected to finish below us, like West Ham and Fulham, have improved significantly on their squads whilst ours has arguably got worse (Cisse for Sidwell and Halford).

I hope we don't go down, but at the moment I am not too comfortable.

You are fast becoming a caricature of yourself. I think that the only person who w@nks over Sidwell as you so typically delicately put it is Krystell.

cmonurz Bottom 4, sorry.

It's not your fault old chap, don't be so down on yourself.

Realistically, we should be aiming for the same thing as last year: avoid relegation, anything else is a bonus i.e mid table, maybe europe, cup run etc. Don't think we'll be relegated, but i don't think we'll be in europe. I've gone for in the middle, around 11th-14th (if you really want to know, i put down 13th-14th).

I see where you are coming from, however it is all depending on how they play together...It could just mean that they have a team of individuals, whereas Reading play well as a team, we have a tight community of players who have near enough played together consistently for 2/3 years, who I expect know each other inside out...

It will be tough for us this season, there is no denying that, but we will just need to continue to work hard. Consolidating our position is the most important thing coming into this season.

Anyone know what last seasons prediction poll looked like?

My thoughts are the same as last year: we're not as good as we think we are, the Premierleague is not as good as everyone thinks it is. Our season will depend as much on luck, injuries and taking the chances that come as anything.

Judging by the poll, if we're not as good as we think we are we're doomed.

17th - 18th

We start with a weaker squad than last year and one that is carrying several long term injuries. In addition, several key members of the squad are past their peak and we are no longer a surprise package to the opposition.

Many other sides in th bottom half have strengthened significantly and, if we do get in trouble, we won't try and spend our way out of it.

You realise that there are a lot of, including you, RR, pessimistic/negative people on here.

SpaceCruiser You realise that there are a lot of, including you, RR, pessimistic/negative people on here.

You fool, are you incapable of reading anything properly?

Over the last 18 months I have been consistently optimistic about us; find one negative thing I have posted about RFC anywhere on this entire board if you can.

Not just realistic assessments of individual players' contributions please, something that shows pessimism about the club.

Okay, off you go now, get searching.
