paultheroyal I reckon there is some truth in this - Shorey performances has been somewhere else of late...and not the player of last season yet.

He was great on saturday.

Good - not great.

He made it into GaROFLth Crooks team of the week whereas BK wasn't. Beggers belief sometimes. I don't think he's been a patch on the player of last season so far this season.

Shorey was the one that stopped a certain goal with a brilliant block in the first half. He was excellent saturday, efficient, good use of the ball and easy to overlook. Bikey too was outstanding especially second half.

From Johnson? If so that was Bikey not Shorey.

No, there was a cross from the left and Shorey dived in, in front of the attacker and blocked it. Seperate incident.

Don't think you can say it was a certain goal as Steve Austin was right behind it and diving. I know it wasn't a simple save to make, but he may have. Good block though I'll admit, but I think BK was immense on Saturday while Shorey was merely 'good'

Hoop Blah You can't always believe all the PR the comes out of the club.

Weren't we told that we weren't talking to, bidding for, or interested in Fae just a week or so before he signed?

That doesn't mean the drivel coming from West Ham is true or not though.

Indeed. Clubs, players and agents will spin whatever line suits them.

The logic for denying interest in Fae is obvious.
The logic for denying any bid for any players is less so. To have said that a bid had been recieved and rejected would not have been against the interest of the club so why would the go out of their way to lie ?
I suspect the truth is that West Ham did make a call enquiring about Shorey (I suspect they have employed a telemarketing agency to call every club and run down their sqaud list asking how much for each of them) and were told he wasn't for sale. This has come back on the rumour mill as 'a bid was made' with embellishments added.

Probably not too far from the truth.

The club might stretch/bury the truth of a bid being made to prevent unrest among their fans or to stop other clubs getting ideas about the player though.

Who knows what goes through the clubs collective mind!

Who indeed...

I would think specifically stating no bids had been made if in fact one had been made, agreed and complex caveats devised around it would be a bit of a risk becasue the bidding club is quite likely to make details public in order to prevent unrest amongst their fans !

Much less risky to be honest and state a bid had been received and rejected and no further bids woul dbe considered as the player was not for sale.

Shorey hasn't been himself, not celebrating goals or whipping in cross after cross etc etc most have agreed on that and it's been done to death.

If the club have refused to sell him, I just hope that he can shake this off and continue the fantastic form he showed last year. Sometimes keeping a player who wants to go can do more damage than good.

Stranded If the right bid is received then of course they will be on their way, it's a fact of life.

Lita will do well to join a club better placed than ourselves. I can't think of a club in the top 6 that would want him unless he got 20 goals this season.

You know to be honest, apart from when Shorey has scored is own goals I can't recall many instances of him getting involved in celebrations :?

exactly - apart from when you think he may be leaving / unsettled when do normally watch your left backs reaction to a goal?

even if he crossed it you will watching the bloke who put it in

Melbguy True, but we're going round in circles. I believe it as I have good reason to.

In fact it's indisputable to me, but not my place to say why.

So I'll believe it you wont, can't say I blame you either.

Is this all because this fella 'Hack' says so?

Hack is a sports journalist who is also a West Ham sth and is very close to someone at the club, his information is on the money, but he isn't the reason I believe it to be true.

But I will say this, if you read that thread most people believe him, reason being because when he says something it happens, he has never posted a fictitious rumour.

Fair enough. I read of few of Hacks posts on that site and he looks like he just states the obvious. Nothing ground breaking so no wonder he never gets it wrong.

Not disputing his source or reliability, but so much goes on around a club that I wouldn't trust what anyone comes out with most of the time.
