Ulises de la Cruz :(

by Arch » 20 Nov 2007 03:02

Tim Vickery Rampaging right-back Ulises De La Cruz, a magnificent servant to his national team, is now past his best, and after a disastrous game against Brazil was not considered for the trip to Paraguay.

Here

Too bad! :(

He's still our best right back but stands little chance of getting a game, sadly.

I would wager that Rosenior is far and away our best right back, and will prove as much when he finally gets a game in his true position!!! :x

He may indeed become a very good right back but there's no way on this earth that he is currently "far and away" a better defender than the highly experience DLC..................and making silly faces won't change that :P

Presumably DLC gets the title of 'best right back' on the basis that he's not playing and must therefore be better than what we have.

Murts as proved himself to be far more consistent and much better defensively and positionally as DLC

DLC has all the positional sense of Tony Bullimore. He has never played a consistent number of matches for any of the sides he has served in Scotland or England, there must be a reason for this.

In a parellel universe perhaps but in this one he's had about 2 decent games this season and been left for dead by so many Premiership forwards as to make any claims of his superior positioning nothing short of side splittingly funny.

Meanwhile, DLC has hardly put a foot wrong in a Reading shirt since he was subbed at half time on his dreadful debut in the hoops.

But by the same logic he hasn't even played a league game since the shambles of Bolton away so how can you judge him, let alone put him in a positive light?

I'm judging him positively on the basis that, in my view, he hasn't had a poor game since his debut whereas our captain looks like he's living on borrowed time at this level.

All this 'far better' stuff is nonsense with regard to our full backs. Could make a case for any of them to play, none of them are 'far better' than each other. All I'll say with regard to DLC is he's been very unlucky to have made so few starts this season. He has been a sound replacement whenever called upon, much like Chris Makin was.

From what i've seen albeit little I'd sooner have either of those two players than our latest recruit from Fulham.

If you were referring to John Oster you would be correct mate.

But De La Cruz made 40odd Prem appearances in one season at least at Villa and was a regular while at Hibs before his £1.5million move to Villa.

Answers on a postcard as to when De La Cruz has let RFC down. Played right back, left back and to a decent level in most games.

As well as scoring a cracker of a goal on the break - the kind of goal that we usually concede.

could just see Shorey running through like that and tucking it away with his right foot!

That was nice, 3-1, goalscorer De La Cruz. Sheffield UMURKED.

What's happened to Murts? Is it all just a loss of pace as he's aging?

It's both. They occur together naturally - and get worse. Opponents will have recognised that and play to the weakness. Sadly, I fear that Murty's days at this level are numbered and, what's more, the same applies to other admirable contributors to the club's outstanding achievements, such as Ingi, Gunnar and (dare I say it?) Little.

I agree I dont think Little will return again, maybe a cameo role at best.
He has to consider if he gets badly injured again he may not be able to walk again let alone play football, a Reading great though
