Royal Lady So, are the players saying that our support has been shite so far?

They'd be spot on.

They might well be, but they've hardly played well enough to inspire us to do much more than moan, to be fair. It's a two-way thing in my little book.

STAR Campaigns ... They’re really keen for the atmosphere to get back to last season’s levels – and they particularly feel that a good atmosphere tomorrow would massively help their cause

And the crowd is really keen to see the team playing to last seasons levels. Lets face it, what crowd won't moan and groan if they're watching a poor performance devoid of passion, commitment and skill.

Schards#2 It might help if the team gets stuck into the, admittedly superior, opposition rather than letting them play pretty much as they please a la the Arsenal game.

Spot on.

Spot on squared. One of the most pleasing aspects of last season was that Reading invariably attacked the opposition - and it worked. Why the almost complete turn-around? Doesn't look as good and doesn't bring results.

We have nothing at all to lose by going at them tomorrow. If we sit back and invite them to shoot on sight, all the flipping time, then I'll be moaning, not singing their praises. HTH.

That may be so last season, but we didn't do much of that against Arsenal at home, we stood back and let them score 4 goals. And we did it again this season, this time only letting them score 3 goals.

I pay to watch the team and enjoy the spectacle, they don't pay me for motivating them to do their job and if I wanted to spend the afternoon singing I'd join a choir.

 Very true!

Please do everything you can to make the atmosphere tomorrow an extra-special one - don't forget we are playing Liverpool, in the Premier League!

Might be trickier than normal given the amount of Liverpool support that's bound to be in the home stands whether as an obvious scouser or just a plastic royal.

So why don't they give us the message themselves through the normal media channels?

They could also add that they all will be doing their utmost from warmup onwards to show that they've got fire in their bellies and to spark the crowd into top voice.

When I see some drive from the team I might be persuaded.

Stewards might be a problem, have they mentioned this to them?

They should also have a chat with our "lose one yob, gain a family of four" chief exec.

No matter how many times you squeal "back the boys and make some noise" over the tannoy, it ain't gonna work if you have gestapo-like crowd control.

I'd much rather go down with attacking play and some flair then go down having played shite football tbh.

Oh and a message to the players "from the fans" -

Show some drive and willing to get stuck in and you'll recieve a much better atmosphere straight away.

Dear Team,

You seem to forget we're Reading folk: only 8000 of us actually support you and of these around 7500 are chronic moaners, who may, if you're lucky, not boo if you win. The rest of the 20000 probably support some other Premiership club or support Premiership football in general so just turn up for the entertainment. Therefore please refrain from asking for us to make noise for you. We expect you to entertain us. We will clap politely if you beat one of the best teams in the world tomorrow.

Yours,

Number 13.

thats vaguely amusing but was proved totally inaccurate last season. the lack of comparable atmosphere this season is purely down to a little less excitement as we've done this before now, and some very lack lustre and toothless performances.
