Bowman's Quiver I think you have to take it in context.
The Simod cup might be a bit of a laughing matter 20 years on but at the time it was an important revenue stream for most of the top flight in the light of the ban of English clubs from Europe post-Heysel. I seem to remember Chelsea, Blackburn and Forest all winning the thing (in one of the other names it had), so it had some appeal.
I think the death-knell was the formation of the Premier League in 1992/93.

Smoking Kills Dancing Doe It's still the best day out I've had as a Reading fan.
The day should never be forgotten.

Cripple Creek I mean OK it was a bit of silverware but don't we rather overdo it? Or am I just unfaithful (not like Nick Clegg). I do sometimes feel we sound a bit like my late grandfather talking about Hurst's winner circa 1966.

aardvark yeah - we go on about it a bit too much, to me it belongs in the Autoglass Windscreens / Zenith Data / Leyland DAF category of short-lived second-rate competitions that don't really warrant attending or remembering. Sorry.
If we'd sat around in League 1 or League 2 for the last 20 years then maybe we should all remember it fondly but we've moved on - I don't think Chelsea are planning a reunion of the Zenith Data Systems trophy winning team from 20 ish years ago.
