Credit where credit is due

by floyd__streete » 17 Sep 2006 19:18

Just like to add my own thanks to the Reading team and management for a quite memorable week - I am always proud to support this little club of ours and I have certainly enjoyed myself following the team home and away these last few days.

Full credit to this side - our hard work ethic, no little skill and sheer guts have given us a cushion before a daunting run of games. It may well be belt and braces stuff over the next few weeks, watch people begin to doubt us again if we stumble once or twice over some difficult hurdles. I do hope that some of the whingers who frequent this board (for folk are fully entitled to their opinion, however unreasonable it may be) will be a little more forgiving of our players if things don't go our way over the next month or so because some of the stick dished out by keyboard warriors on here in the two weeks which followed the Wigan game was quite out of order imho.

Two wins in less than a week but I don't think we have cracked it yet. Just like I didn't think we'd p*ssed our chances up the wall after losing at Villa and Wigan. Let's get behind them over a testing next few weeks and we might just might be pleasantly surprised.

Good post.

I fully expect us to be beaten at least in the next 4 games comfortably, anything more is a bonus. Even then after that we have pompey and tottenham which are tough asks aswell. Any point from now until the end of this difficult run is a bonus. I just hope the majority of reading fans remember who we are, and where we came from and support us during our coming defeats, as this will happen.

I don't

I half expect us to be beaten, but i half expect a draw at West Ham.
Arsenal aren't beyond a point at the moment either. Just hope they don't start playing well before they play us.
I fully expect at least one point from the next 4 games - and if we don't get any - I will still drink from my Reading FC mug with pride 8)

I think the West Ham game is wide open. They're in a bit of disarray, mostly brought on by the Tevez-Mascherano business. We give them a good run, and this time we'll have a secret weapon - two strikers!

Think your a bit disillusioned there mate.
If Manchester United can't get a point off them at home, you think we will?
West ham is a tough place to go, don;t care what anyone else says, im not expecting anything from there.

On current evidence, there are no outstanding teams in this division.

Arsenal is possibly the hardest game of the lot, they are the best footballing side in the premiership..we will have a hell of a job getting the ball off of them let alone scoring

I hope I'm not being overly negative with this but realistically we can't EXPECT to pick up points now til mid November, any points picked up through this next run of six games is a bonus. I reckon we'll have a fruitful period from then on til Christmas, so I'm not all doom and gloom that's for certain! As long as we give these big sides a real go and not embarass ourselves I'll be happy, and who knows, we may pick up a surprise point here or there.

A point - a sole point. I haven't seen arsenal play all that well yet and I think it is possible to get a 0-0 draw.
Do you think Coppell will be saying to the team "go and get your arse(nal)s kicked?" No.

I believe.
And I will drink from my mug even if we get stuffed. Coz I love this team.

Of course he won;t say that, but jsut becaue he doesn;t you beleive we will get something? How many teams have given 110% percent with better players than us and lost. If Arsenal play well, we will get a sound beating, its really that simple.

I expect it, and will support the team just as much if we do.

Top post and I completely agree and echo those sentiments. Great night on Monday and my weekend in Sheffield was great having not been back long.

Honestly?
Watched until 62mins. It was 0-0 and I saw nothing to fear from either team. Obviously the game improved afterwards, and I had better think about retracting my comments
But Villa grabbed the draw and they didn't look all that good, and todays game was Arsenals first win.
If Hendersons terribLOLe effort against United had gone in, would we be saying that Watford are unbeatable?
And all I said to start this whole debate was that we could get a point or more from the next 4 games.

Three games left, we can survive! FineRain, what is the point of dredging up all these old threads? Surely you have changed your opinion on any number of subjects after a year and a half. Others can do the same. I know for a fact that Floyd loves this club and wants us to survive as much as anyone. Let's see what happens come Saturday, one game at a time and all that. :)
