Huntley & Palmer Tony Le Mesmer A quick comparison with teams in a similar bracket to Reading. By that i mean relegated from the prem recently:
Sheff Utd £359 for the kop, just over £400 for other areas. Under 12s £69
Charlton. Adult prices start at £290 behind the goal, rising to £450 for the best seats. Under 12s £99.
Derby County. Adult Prices start at £270 with most tickets at £355. Under 12s start at £55
Brum £393-£460. £99 for under 12s
Norwich City £366-£398. £85 for Under 12s
You can get an family stand ticket for under 11s for just £10 at Ipswich
You would need to compare us to a team with a similarly sized stadium. Charlton can offer very low ST prices due to having over 30,000 seats available, same with Derby. You then need to take into account geographics and the wealth of the local area too. So it's pretty pointless comparing us to any of those teams.
Surely stadium capacity only comes into it if they stand any chance of filling it. I believe Charlton's average home attendance last season was 23,159! In other words having the bigger stadium did not give them a financial advantage.
Jerry St Clair Huntley & Palmer Some people are under the impression that it is some sort of right to watch your local team, no matter what level your income stream is at or how many people you want to sign up.

Depends whether you see your local football club as a pure business or representative of the soul and character of your local community.
I believe in the latter, hence i think prices should be structured to be as inclusive as possible.
Agreed. but sadly very few top professional clubs appear to buy into that theory. That is, until they are in the shyte and then they start to come out with the 'we're part of the local community and we need the community to support us financially, so please come along to our games and bring a friend too.'
Sound familiar?
