And how would they know that? Their financial year does not end until 30th June so how would anybody know the position regarding other costs, interest payments and the like?

I did see the list of prize money for 2006-07 somewhere.

We received about £9m for finishing 8th. 17th place received about £2.5m.

Let's talk figures

2 seasons in the premier league

hardly any cash spent

lots of tv money/increased gate receipts/merchandising

low wages by premier league standards

management constantly saying there is money to be spent

the above 5 statements are true which suggest we SHOULD be rolling in it, then please explain why all our best players (who are under contract) are being linked with moves away

Shorey has 1 year left so i understand if he is flogged
...but the others we keep if we have any ambition about getting back up, shirley we have the cash to KEEP players, i am not even asking for us to invest, now all the fanbase is asking of the club is to KEEP players, see how our dreams/expectations/ambitions have been eroded by the constant feed of negativity/penny-pinching/book-keeping/wafer-counting by the club.

but well done to the PR department at the club, you have successfully stopped the fans from demanding the big signings that money from 2 years in the Premier League should warrant, instead all we ask now is that we KEEP players, but no the incompetent fools can't even do that

today the transfer rumours amused me

James Harper to be sold for 3.5 million, his replacement David Bell for 400k, another hefty 3.1 million profit on top of the profits of the last few years, accountants go home happy-Reading end up in mid table

Kitson to Fulham 2.5. million, they'll probably take that too even though Bolton offered twice that last season

and various others too

oh they'll warn that it's about the rainy days ahead, that we must tighten our belts

we tightened our belts during sunny days too, this club pleases accountants only, it's a fcuking joke, welcome David Bell our latest big name signing

The PR department and accountants smile and Reading move further from the Premier League every moment we put the aspirations of these idiots first

I agree - this is what is being said in may threads although some fans are laying down and taking it by adopting the attitude that Championship life is not all that bad. I always thought the aim was the PL and when we got relegated most expected a return straight back - that is not going to happen if we sell our best players

i understand if a couple or sold, it's a natural consequence of going down

but wholesale changes????? why??

shirley we have penny-pinched so much the last few years we are now in good shape

i would understand if we invested in loads of players the last few years and paid huge wages but we haven't so why are all our players being linked with moves away?

where has all the money gone??

i think the club should make a statement about finances and key players or the fans are going to get majorly pissed off and season ticket sales will struggle to get to 15,000

LOL

gus

stick to AE
its where you are best

we have only lost one so far
i expect harper hunt shorey and maybe one more to go
and to be fair dont see much wrong with it
the team needs a change, dead wood out, rebuild, and push on-going into another season, with the same squad is a recipe for disaster-as we learned last year

going on blithely about the money-when the accounts are in the public domain is just daft in my opinion
but each to their own

but going by the way some of them played and what they have said they are dead wood, part of the problem last year was some of the players just didn't seem bothered and if that hasn't changed we'll do just as poorly.

The 'public domain' isn't somewhere on the internet....

And you may find many of your points discussed endlessly on multiple other threads.

And the 5 points you list don't really lead to the conclusion you think they do without actual numbers.

And wasn't it Lita, not Kitson that Bolton denied making an offer for ?

And why would 15k ST be a bad thing ? That looks a very healthy number so if the activities of the club produce 15k STH that suggests they must be doing something right - bizarrely !

It would appear that most of the contracts that were signed since promotion had a get out clause for the players that if a Prem side came in for a certain figure we would listen to offers, i would assume this helped us keep wages down, and now a few may leave, well good luck to them.

I remember hearing that for the last season alone including 1 season Parachute payment we got £44 Million for being relegated

That will help fund the redevelopment of the town centre
