Geekins
Platypuss
Geekins I think we can take comfort that the OS keeps on saying he is ill. They would've only mentioned it once if it was false and then kept quiet about it. So far, i say Kitson is staying.

I don't get it

Denial. He is saying you are in denial (the nile). And I am with you. Kitson is staying put.*

*-staying put = moving to Stoke for 5 million

SCIAG It's not on the website (SSN or the OS).

We should have demanded £8m, considering what Zamora/Paintsil, Chopra and Nugent when for. Kitson is better and more proven than all of them.

It is now.

I have to say that if this is true - particularly if it is not even £5M and there are add ons included - I will be throwing away my RTG's and buying a new pair of STG's and joining AP, Royalee etc in slagging the club off. If true it will make a mockery of the club's stance of only selling players at fair market value.

I cannot see why Kitson is worth less than a minimum of £6M when other players less proven have gone for amounts of at least - or in excess of that figure.

As there is nothing on Sky Sports yet I will wait with baited breath hoping this is all rubbish.

Even though we are renowned for keeping any deals we are attempting to make a "top secret", there is always a leek somewhere so it becomes a newsworthy item in the press, but in all honesty we havent been linked strongly with anybody this close season while all those around us are doing business, I fear the comment that SSC made on the OS this week that he was happy with the squad but he is looking to trim it further, with our "no longer required" plyers already gone how are we to interpret this ? losing the players that are strongly linked with moves and not replacing them, as that would reduce the squad size, and reduce the crowd size as well ? as I have said on this site before I just wish we knew what the thoughts and desires for the coming season are as we, on what we read on the OS site and glean from the EP pages dont seem to be looking to return to the Premiership, there were some very fragile comments by Madejski this last week about getting back to the Prem so he can sell it but I found that very unconvincing, this fuelled by the clubs readiness to sell its better players and lack of bringing new blood in, and to prospective new players this doesn't send a message that we are looking to bounce back, and in itself that will make possible new players even more reluctant to come and join.

Our best player. Not even going to a decent club...such a shame for us and the player.

Replaceable? Like with who? Like others on here, the only player I truly wanted to keep.

Outclassed the over-hyped Dean Ashton at Upton Park last season. One of the best English centre forwards in the game.

One of the most depressing pre-seasons ever.

TBF 5 million is a lot of money for a 28 year old who does have injury worries. It doesnt howevever disguise the fact that we are getting rid of our most effective striker, one of Doyle or Lita i could have agreed with but Kitson brings so much to the side and as others mention has that obvious touch of class. Its really suprises me Kitson is looking to Stoke as he would fit into most bottom 10 Prem sides-the realisation is hitting home now when teams like Stoke are able to pinch our top players away when 3-4 years ago it would have been laughable to think it would happen. Fair play to Pulis though he is no mug.Expect the rumour mil to start working over drive if this does go through!

T.R.O.L.I. As RFC are always reluctant to do their transfer buying in public, I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Kitson sold but XXX signs" type story tomorrow.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a "Kitson sold but £5 off the 07/08 season DVD for season ticket holders" type story tomorrow. I am also particularly looking forward to seeing whatever imaginative spin the likes of Royal Rother can come up with if and when this deal is tied up.

6/4 FAV "we've made a tidy profit on Kitson" - as if running a football club is like a game of Monopoly.
4/1 "we can re-invest the money in the squad" - bearing in mind the absolute tripe we have shelled big money on in recent years that is a frightening prospect in itself.

Over-reactions from most of you surely?

I am sad to see him go but this doesn't mean that we haven't got a chance next year.

At least if this is true we still have a chance of getting Hulse.

And 5 million is a decent price.

It's the most anyone has ever paid for one of our players by far.

Royal Rother Relax - this deal isn't going to happen.

It was all so inevitable once this had happened.

Huge lol and well done for that Floyd.

Btw your STG buddy AP wasn't so fussed about the prospect of Kits going.

Platypuss If that 2M/2M bid is accurate then I can only surmise that, for whatever reason, DK is one of those wanted out of the door fast.

More like £3m + £2M now, but if DK is going to be a mardy arse it's for the best that we get rid as soon as possible.
