Geekins
howser If that deal goes through, then using the qoutes that came from the club that we will have to sell players to give the manager funds for new ones, I make it that it will give Coppell £9.85m to spend.......................sounds good !!

Yes but in reality it means nothing. We won't spend that this year

Or for a few years to come.

5 Million is a fair deal, if the club spend some of the money on Watson from Palace.

Would be happy to see that but I can't see it happening, there are plenty of clubs competing for him if you believe the rumour mill. Would we pay the wages?

Kits + Harps = £5.5M + £5.0M = £10.5M

It's a joke when did we ever spend anything like that sort of money?

This won't happen-

Southgate now looking to signing David Dunn from Blackburn - can't blame him, £5m for Harper is absolutely ridiculous, and unfortunately we will have the hand waving crab-like passer staying in our ranks, and with Coppells loving loyalty, in the team as well

I'll be very happy if we keep hold of him tbh. If we are offered £5m for the bloke though then yeah sell sell sell...

Harper and Marek should be an excellent central midfield for the Championship. A lot of people forget that even with Sidwell we were frequently overrun in midfield when we went up. I particularly remember the 1-0 win over Man City, where they basically had a field day in the middle of the park but our back five stood tall. The difference between Premiership and Championship is enormous and Harper's head and shoulders above the standard for the latter, even if he didn't convince everyone in the former.

Would love to see it but my source tells me that he is most unlikely to stay.

I agree with the sentiments on here. If Harps goes you would think he would be replaced unless Coppell sees Bikey in central midfield or Karacan. I dont think Karacan is ready for a regular starting place at this level yet though.

BBC Sport site....

Basically, Boro's interest in Harps has cooled, but Bolton wll bid £3M for him.

Frankly, if we turned down the same from Boro, why would we accept it from Bolton?

I suspect its lazy journalism.

Possibly because of timing or because we thought we'd get a better offer from one of the other interested parties when the first bid came in.

THe Mirror say the offer of £3m is still on the table from Bolton but that they are likely to add one or two players to the deal to try and get us to accept. At least we can't pay Arsenal 40% of those players as it would get a bit messy.

Matt Taylor or Gary Cahill would probably be good signings for us.....

Heidar Helguson would do a job, Jloyd Samuel has been suggested as a replacement for Shorey if he were to be sold, Gavin McCann might be surplus to requirements if they take Harper as well as signing Muamba earlier this summer.

I would like Helguson, although now that we have 4 strikers again, it's unlikely unless we're expecting one of the others to move on. Don't really know too much about Samuel.

same could be said for any of our players i reckon

if bids of that size come in, copps will put it to the players and i cant see many turning down the opportunity to go back up and play with the prima donnas
