Huntley & Palmer
Royal Rother I think I agree with almost everything said in the last 3 posts, it's just that I have this (some might say naive) belief that he will make the necessary changes sooner rather than later.

He will have to, otherwise the crowd will be calling for him to be sacked and the whole SOS campaign will be a rather embarrassing charade

will be?

People spent the whole of last season saying everything was fine, things would get better and that Coppell knew what he was doing.

The same people saying it now.

I couldn't agree more. The first 2 games were against teams that will be in the bottom half, as soon as we play a team half decent we get stuffed.

I'm not so sure Forest will be and their defeating Watford at the weekend could show what a decent point that'll be.

As I've consistantly said, 3 games in (2 away) is no barometer and there have been positives as well as negatives. A win on Saturday and we go into the international break with 7/12 points and with a win behind us - not too bad on the pure face of it and the window shut.

I can't help but think the rumours about bids for Doyle, Harper etc has had some affect on the teams performance, getting 1st Sep out of the way could be a bonus.

However, once these distractions are gone and nothing changes performance wise (I can't say result wise as we've had 1 of each in the league) come the next international break then it is real grounds for concern - as performances ala Charlton will see us nearer the middle/bottom than the top.

If we had to make a change managerially at that point it would give any new incumbant time to work with the current squad and make his own apprisals by Jan and still have plenty of time to make a play-off/promotion push.

I personally do not think it will come to that.

So we lose by two goals and we got stuffed, does that mean we stuffed Plymouth??

I remember when that argument came out after we'd shipped 7 goals.

Plymouth will get about as much stuffing on the pitch as Paul Sturrock clearly has every Sunday this season.

No it isn't, he's always been fat. I know people with the disease and they're not overweight.

RoyalBlue
PremAddict I am afraid Coppell doesn't have the temperment and personality to inject fire into this team. I was sort of dumbfounded to read the article where Kitson revealed Coppell brought-in a motivational team.

That's one thing you can't knock him for. I think you'll find that an awful lot of sports teams, including some very successful ones, either employ or bring in from time to time sports pyschologists (that's what a motivational team are likely to have been). IIRC Pardew brought in a motivational team during his time at the club (Spirit, Tenacity & Flair + a lot of other motivational statements stuck up around the dressing room). Pardew did have the personality to inject and breath fire and I believe also tried the fear approach that you advocate.

Fair enough. What I meant to express is my dismay regarding the dressingroom accusations and attitude. I would hope that the manager would resolve that without any 3rd party. Now there's no way for me to know what is said in private - I sincerely hope that Coppell's opinions are very well heard. On the positive, SSC's willingness to sit-down Sonks after his little tirade is good - I just feel that with SSCs reserved style, more of that type of action is needed.

Scoring 4 goals made up for conceding 7.

How many posts where there about how losing 7 - 4 wasn't that bad a result?!

Have some positivity:

Steve Coppell If anything then Saturday's game gives us more urgency to do something at the other end. The whole back four did not defend well.

I notice that Royalee has changed his location. Could that be because he has failed his exams and won't be going back to Bournemouth Secondary Modern?

I got a first this year thanks dickhead.

Do you want me to update you with my academic performances on a regular basis seeing as you seem somewhat obsessed with my achievements? I'd actually be quite flattered with all the attention you've been giving me if you weren't a complete and utter shit for brains.

What is there to be concerned about? In five games, we have won 3 games, drawn 1 and lost 1. We have scored 11 goals and conceded 6 goals. We're still looking good.

Actually, that is the point. In two we looked good and in three we didn't (and I have seen all 5).
