FiNeRaIn Well done hull, AMBITION paid off.
Something reading FC never had in two years of prem football.

Yeah...ask Bradford, Leeds, Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich, Charlton and every other team that dared to dream about ambition.

Go and ask teams that were relegated like 10 years ago? Before the surge of money in todays game? What relevance to any of those have to MODERN day football, sheffield wednesday, ipswich and bradford?
Leeds were in the champions league, and charlton were relegated because curbishly left, they were consistently mid table while spending money sensibly, they haven't wrecked themselves financially.

In todays game money talks im afraid. What about man city, west ham, blackburn, wigan, fulham ,etc all spent MONEY on the back of their promotions to the premiership and funnily enough they are still there aren't they? Convenient how you miss out the examples of teams who have spent to cement their status.

Yeah Charlton have been out of the Prem for SOOO long. What about teams like Sunderland, Birmingham and WBA...spend lots either trying to stay up or trying to get back up. As I said spending money doesn't assure success....for anyone. Look at Spurs at the moment.

Over the years I have always found Spurs to be a good team for the nuteral to watch. Always tried to play in an attractive style and have so often had the potential to cause an upset here or there against the top teams.

What a truly dislikable bunch of nasty little c***ers they have become over the last couple of years.

The Spurs fans are all n*bs though....just like West Ham fans (and Newcastle)...certain style...used to be great...tradition...massive club...deserve better...YAWN!

Good win for Wigan today too. The penalty was (ahem) 'debatable' however. My my.

Amr Zaki is quickly becoming a favourite neutral player of mine.

I never much liked Steve Bruce (Man Utd player, stroppy Wigan manager when we met them in play-offs)but admire how he has built a decent squad at Wigan much as Hughes did at Blackburn.
Whereas a game with Wigan playing previously might have been one to avoid I thought today's v Man City was good entertainment and players like Valencia and Palacios plus the new Egyptian really are Premiership standard.
They have shown that by astute spending (as with Blackburn) it is possible to assemble a squad good enough to be mid-table and maybe challenge for a cup and/or a European spot.

Steve Bruce : "He did exaggerate it but there was contact and he's gone down. For me the referee made the right decision. Yes, he made a meal of it but contact was made."

Always makes me LOL when a bad decision involoving United gets highlighted, yet there are bad decisions all the time that no one bothers talking about. ALOL @ Fergie though, "yes the ref got it wrong but Styles has got it load a lot of time, that's just the 4 penalties he owes us now"

Also...

Bolton captain Kevin Nolan revealed that even Ronaldo and his team-mates were aghast when referee Rob Styles awarded Manchester United a breakthrough penalty at Old Trafford that could yet have implications for the top and the foot of the table.

Styles enraged Bolton when he deemed Jlloyd Samuel’s tackle on Ronaldo in which the visitors’ full-back clearly took only the ball, should be punished by a spot-kick that the Portuguese tucked away to give United only their second League victory in five starts.

Styles’ decision also brought incredulity from United, who had spent a fruitless hour battering Bolton’s deep-lying and well-marshalled defences. “Ronaldo was on the floor saying, 'I didn’t want a penalty’. I don’t think one of them put their hands up asking for it,” Nolan said. “Fletcher’s going, 'It’s not a penalty’, Tevez is going, 'It’s not a penalty’. They couldn’t believe their luck but you’re at Manchester United and unfortunately that’s what happens. It does strike fear into you when you look at this magnificent stadium. Maybe that’s what happened today to the referee.’’

A point backed up by some random twat in the Coopers on Friday who told us that Spurs would finish top six. We all just laughed at him and carried on drinking

LOL Indeed. Overall United still healthily in credit thanks to the Bank of Riley.

After Chelsea won at Stoke on Saturday, captain John Terry approached Stoke fans in the stands who were shouting abusive chants at him during a TV interview - and shook hands with them and posed for pictures as he clutched a celebratory bottle of lager.

and with all that money City have spent, they've been knocked out of the Carling Cup and beaten at Wigan in a week.

The 6-0 versus pompey's not looking so great now...

On another note, what were the odds on Ramos not lasting 'til Christmas?

And Hamburg not doing badly.

Remind me again what position we finished in at the end of our first Premiership season?
