100 plus goals?

100 plus goals?

In 2005/6, we failed to score 100 goals by just one measly goal. I'd like to pose the question (though I could easily find out for myself, but you can do it if you want to), have we ever scored more than one hundred league goals in one season?

As we have scored 26 goals in 10 games so far, does anyone reckon we can break the record of goals scored in this division? What's the current record anyway, does anyone know?

barcelona were 5-1 up against atletico madrid after 25 minutes, i remember thinking to myself at the time if they keep scoring at this rate they'll get 18


...but that's not how it works, football ain't accounting, they won 6-1

But if you think about it, if we score more goals than the opponents, then more often than not, we'll get the points.

This season we won't even have to do that to get the points so long as we get the Watford officials every game....

No idea if we've done it before. Keep Doyle & SHunt in January, and keep Doyle, SHunt, NHunt & Kebe injury free the rest of the season and we have a fair chance of managing 100+ goals this season.

But those are pretty unlikely circumstances

I think 92 for both points and goals would be more than satisfactory..

Presumably the other 5 games are 0-0 draws to keep the aggragate goal difference the same?

+6 GD and 8pts or
+6 GD and 18pts.

I think I know which I'd take too.

As I recall Man U were 3 - 0 up against us (in the FA Cup replay 2007) in 6 minutes. At that rate they should have beaten us 45 - 0 but, as you say, football doesn't work like that. I remember at the time thinking - 'Please God don't make it more than 6!'. But what a game!!

I think we got 112 in 1951/2 from memory.

Dunno the record for this division but expect it's about 120 in 42 games. I think the reocrd for 46 game season is about 135.

What about 6 2-0s vs 1 6-0 a 2-0 and 4 1-0s?

I'd take the latter there.

You could possibly get away with 6 1-0s or 1 6-0 and 5 games in hand. But even that is pushing it IMO.

I'd prefer.
1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0, 1-0 rather than win one game 6-0 and lose the other 5.
It's obvious.
