^ this is the thing. He made it clear he wanted away for the Jan transfer window and no-one came in with a good enough offer. I bet SHunt is very surprised no-one has yet made an offer for him.

I think it was probably made known by the club that it would take the full £5m for us to let him go. It was a bit of a gamble that turning down any other bids would help us secure the promotion spot that would've been worth all that extra Premiership money.

Things are quite different now and I'm sure the footballing community know that it would only take a significantly lower bid than that for us to let him go now.

I still expect him to go for £2.5m+. I've said it before on here that managers see a player like Hunt (and the likes of Sonko before them) as good opportunities to buy when they've been through a bad spell as all managers think they'll be able to get the player back to performing at their best again.

Still can't believe we gave him another contract in January though!

IMAMATEOFJOVSKY
Royal Lady Who's to say Everton want him for their first team? They might be using him as cover - he could end up in their reserves.

Word is they want him as he offers good rates on tarmacing of the club car park ! - Cannot see Hunt replacing any of the current Everton midfield players - id be surprised if any Premier club come in for him - apart from those whose scouts didnt bother to watch him last season!

Who'd have thought a Premiership club would pay money for Sonko, still happened.

Someone who has too much money to spend, will take a punt on Hunt based on what they remember from the odd game they saw him play in our 1st season in the Premiership.

The truth is Hunt is the ultimate example of how Coppell could get someone playing far better than they ever should do, although I'm not sure I've ever seen as extreme an example of it....

No he wasn't. He was hyped up that way in the same that Sidwell was in the past because of a high media profile.

He had a decent enough run for a couple of months, after being woeful for the first month after the cock up of playing him at left back. Even if he was the best player at that point, giving a player who obviously wanted to leave the club a massive pay rise to put him on Premiership wages was a shocking decision when he wasn't really any better than his team mates.

his contract at christmas had a £5M clause in it which the club stuck too

the reason he would be so please with his new contract is that figure would have been reduced to around £3.5M

maybe reducing his get out clause meant he lost confidence in his self worth and thats why he started playing shit

So why does he think doing the same thing is going to be any different this time round?

Because we won't hold out for £5m this time so clubs will probably show more interest.

haha, genius to even think of that as a reason to be fair kudos!

With Hunt, I've alwayspersonally thought it's like the old saying

Form is temporary
Class is permanent

it just works the other way round in Hunt's case.

Bollocks. Given the number of goals he set up it appeared it was essential we kept him if we wanted to go up. Hunt may not have been awesome in open play (he was pretty good though) but he was unstoppable from set pieces. Unfortunately he then did an Xmas disappearing act.

Hunt may not have been excellent at Left back, but he filled in well enough. We just really really missed him up the pitch.

Everton has good scouting - they've done quite well when they've cherry-picked from other clubs. That said, is it a case the board here doesn't see how good he could be or a case of other clubs being blinded by his handsome locks?

Seriously, I can sort of understand Stoke going after Kitson as he still showed good ability and the case could easily be made that the lack of a good midfield affected him to the negative. Sonko, I don't really get that as he was in an incredible slump at the time of the move.

With Hunt, he continues to either start for Ireland or play a good amount of time as a sub and against really good opponents.

Personally I'd be glad to see him leave as he obviously hasn't wanted to play in a Reading shirt for awhile regardless of whether or not he's actually any good.

Plus if I have to see one more of his feable attempts to pass the ball to himself by outrunning his opposing player, I'll effin scream. Someone needs to tell him his little legs don't operate as fast as his mouth...

Times today says that Fulham are the most interested party having watched him in the last two International games for Ireland. Would be a good club for him to go to

The attitude of the money grabbing modern footballer makes you want to discontinue your support for these jumped up pr*cks. Not just the players at Reading but the players at every football club in the top 2 divisions. They are a bunch of w*nkers and don't deserve our support.
