Are we now a selling club?

by Berry » 30 Jun 2009 19:33

Yet again RFC (Madejski) have made a fortune on selling one of their best players in Doyler, Only this week Swinedon have accepted a £2.5 M offer form the Baggies for Cox, apparently we have a 70% sell on clause. What concerns me is that Brendan Rodgers is being used for his knowledge of youth football to unearth some more talents who will be moved on again for more money, Granted its a good way to keep a club afloat but do we really want to be a nursery club for lower tier Prem Clubs? I would like to see the current crop of Academy stars as mainstays of the Reading team of the future not just a way of making cash.

Sadly there are only about 5 clubs in England these days who aren't selling clubs.

Its always been the same though

The top clubs of the day can always prize away other clubs top players if they really want to, nothing unusual about it and Reading always have been and always will be a selling club

Even Man Utd couldnt keep their star player this season so how the hell can we expect to, especially when we are playing at a level below the capabilities of some of the squad

I think that it is more a sign of the times that for the first time in ages we have had some saleable assets. It actually shows how far we have come in the 40 or so years that I have been watching. The list of players that have left us and gone on and improved is not that long. Aside from Webb, Sanchez and Dixon (and to a lesser extent Terry Hurlock), I really struggle to think of any that have gone on and been successful. And to think that we joked at Brentford being our feeder club.

Just another knee jerk reaction form a Nobber

Honesty why do you all bother to watch with this negative attitude - we are an amazing success 30 years ago bottom rung and now contenders again. If JM didn't keep us ticking over we would be screwed. We are the best club, with the best fans - I love my club. URZZZZZ - join in or take another Prozac!

Dont be a bellend, I couldnt really care 2 Fcks to be honest, I thought i might share in a bit of banter before I went out, but quickly Ive realised how so many people on here are so twisted up and bent on putting people down, see you again in aprox 2 years, I will post again and test to see if its changed. Why dont you go down to the M4, wait for an accident and tell the emergency services that "You dont do it like that" Bye from the man on the moon...........

We've always been a selling club - it's only now that we have anything worth selling!
