Thought the criticism aimed at Cummings was a bit harsh tbh. Seemed really nervous the whole game, but it was weird how reluctant he was to attack the right wing but atleast he had the sense to slow down and play it inside and generally keep possession. Which is better than what we're used to seeing with players bombing down the wing and then smashing the ball into the stands. Obviously wasn't great today though, just need to patient really; although Cardiff is going to be sh!t if we play like that!

I have to say Howard didn't perform the way I hoped he would, fair enough it was his debut, but gave a lot of passes away and seemed really slow. But those who are saying Rodgers out already, I can't really think of anything worse. The current crop of players are his players, he knows a lot of them from the past and if anyone is going to get the best from this group, it is him. Its not making for brilliant viewing, but hey it was better than the end of last year IMO and I think patience is pretty much the key word in all this.

Schards#2 We look like a side who's sold every player from a successful team and replaced them with cheaper, inferior alternatives.

The future isn't bright, the future is dull and uninspiring, as is the present.

If Doncaster had cottoned on to how poor we are and showed a bit of ambition, they would have won comfortably. We are currently one of the worst 2-3 teams in this division and will be hammered by one of the better ones on Wednesday.

Still, at least we got rid of that waster Coppell, who wants win over Liverpool, Spurs, Man City etc when you can have 0-0's with Donny.

Problems today:

Siggs has been very good in the last couple of games playing as the attacking midfielder, Howard has been bought as an attacking midfielder so if he has to start then he should have started instead of Siggs. So poor old Siggs has to move out to the left, which is where Kebe should play, I could understand playing Siggs on the left of a diamond but not in a "433". Chelsea used this formation the best when they had Robben and Duff with Drogba through the middle, Siggs should never have been put in that position. The idea of the "front three" is having a central striker who can hold the ball up, having left/right sided wingers/strikers Noel can't play the central role Kebe is unfortunately the best we have for the left and HRK is the best for the right.

Sorry if that doesn't make any sense, today i just wasn't sure what formation we were playing, BR thought we were playing 433 but i think the players thought they were playing in a diamond, Siggs didn't know his role and nor did Karacan.

Also, during the Forest game we passed the ball beautifully but today i didn't see it, whats happened?

Well, wasn't that shit!

Against Forest we dominated and with a bit of luck could have scored in the last 10 minutes or so. Against Sheff Utd we played with pace and movement and had a really good first half. But what was there today? I am not going to slag off the players because it is not their fault.

...Still haven't seen Reading score (live) since November 2008!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (I've only missed about 3 home matches in that time and even been to a couple of away ones - the ones where we haven't scored)

Harpers So Solid Crew
ZacNaloen No it's got nothing to do with degrees of anything, you just don't get players that good at this level.

The better the players the less time they need to gel into a new team if at all.

you don't need players as good as Man C bought at this level tho, they bought in players at the high end/top of the level they are competing at, we bought average players for the level we are playing at.

Added to that inexperienced but promising young players from a higher level.

Your not getting it, HTH

Dreadful watch today.

Kebe had one of his off days, to put it mildly. Terrible performance.

Howard and O'Dea looked good. Howard one of our more competent players goign forward and O'Dea solid as you like.

Cummings, wtf? He looked petrified of the ball every time he touched it, like he'd been living on a island in the Pacific for 40 years and had just seen a computer for the first time. Shocking goign forward. I can't for the life of me see how a player from the Chelsea academy could be so clueless with the ball at his feet. Shit.

Hunt did well with little support and the introduction of Marek and Rasiak improved things. Marek looked better than our other midfielders and Rasiak introduced that element of doubt a big player can do.

I'm not fusses about it overall - we just need to be patient. I'll judge Brendan in a dozen games time or so, not now.

Give Cummings a break. He is only 20 - let's give him a chance and see how he does over the next 10 games or so.

Yeah, sure. I'm not writing him off yet at all. Just needs to start playing a bit of football and get over his stage fright.

Has he just come back from a long term injury? I thought that he had been playing regularly for WBA and MK Dons.

New team, slightly nervous disposition = a bit of stage fright. He'll grow out of it.

It was the "start playing a bit of football" I didn't get.

Anyway, is playing at the Madejski more stage fright inducing than playing at the Hawthorns?

I don't think it matters, some of the criticism he has had in the past were defensively solid but a bit nervous going forward. He'll grow out of it.

In fact, today's game which should have helped lift my mood has only confirmed that this will be my last season wasting my hard earned on Reading FC. I am sick of the boring, middle classness of the club. The total plasticity of the place. If the middle classes want to turn up then go the the oxf*rd rugby. That IS your game, this is mine. I am sick of jobsworth stewards sneering down their noses and suspecting any and everyone of being an axe wielding, child eating thug. Getting children on the mic? oxf*rd off! I dont spend my money so some Jemima or Tarquin can be a precocious twat. And the flag waving nonces? Get rid. The TVJ's were bad enough, but this? Entertainment? WTF is entertaining about that? Now, if the man with big hair were to be butt-fucked in the centre circle by some leather clad S&M bitch with a 4 foot long strap on, well, that would be fun! But watching the shit on show today feels as if it is me that has been slammed.

At least at the Hawthorns they know what they are doing.
