Schards#2 Just heard a STAR representitive interviewed on BBCRB, remarkably, she couldn't find any fault with what the club has done or is doing.

I was shocked.

Sure it wasn't someone from the Daily Star?

I heard that too - but not sure how you can put that spin on it and keep a straight face, since nothing was asked about the club and their actions.

All she basically said was that this early in the season is too early to be making rash judgements and that any talk on relegation in the middle of September is way premature.

I was going to mention this. I don't think STAR should give their opinions under the STAR banner, she should have just been spoken to Andrew Peach under her own name - as what a STAR board member thinks of the current situation is not representative of the supporters as a whole.

Maybe she could have canvassed opinion on here first. Even some of the more optimistic fans are starting to feel negative now :(

Didn't she also spout the old club mantra of "rebuilding"?

Dirk, if you want to ring up Andrew Peach as Dirk Gently and give your opinions, all hail to you - but people ringing up and giving their own opinions in the name of STAR is wrong, imo.

Hmmmm, I'd say that's arguable, but to be honest I can't make head or tail of the sentence
I don't think STAR should give their opinions under the STAR banner
What name would you like us to use, then? :?:

The job of a STAR spokesman is to represent the views of STAR members - that may or may not represent the views of the supporters as a whole, but it's actually a much bigger number of Reading supporters than those who are regular posters on HNA? And there are communications channels in place for STAR members to let us know if they feel we're misrepresenting them - which they do use regularly.

And anyway, on a wider philospohical point - who is to say what is or isn't representaive of tbe views of a wide and diverse number of people? The people who shout loudest or the people who have opinions but don't make quite as much noise to spread them?

Finally, never forget that if the members of STAR don't like what is being said in their name then they always have the power to replace a STAR Board member - it's a fully democratic organisation.

Didn't hear the interview but if your synopsis is accurate then I'd fully agree. The hysteria is ridiculous. I've been around long enough to know Reading fans are idiots, but wanting to replace the manager after 8 games in is just plain mental.

Let's hope some STAR members take all that on board then.

For the record, I am always absolutely scrupulous in making sure it's completely clear in whose name I am speaking (or posting).
