Having said that... Portsmouth aren't exactly doing any better than Reading.

I support Reading through and through but like to follow Bournemouth also.

Should the two meet in the same division next year of course my allegiances will lay with Reading.

I can't understand someone who would follow a team who so openly hate us with a passion. Following the fortunes of another team is perfectly acceptable, and going to see them play. There can only be one love though. For me, that is Reading, as going to 275 consecutive home and away matches proves I think. But in that time I've been with friends to see their teams play - Exeter, Torquay, as well as going to see random games at Hereford and Rochdale. I couldn't, however, bring myself to go to Portsmouth, Southampton, Chelsea etc just for a football fix. In other words, my love for the game is as high as my love for Reading FC, but there are some things that you just don't do.

Changing sport...? That's a personal choice, but not one I would ever alter from football. I like cricket, rugby union to an extent, and golf. But football takes most of my time.

Things may seem bad now but I was there in 1983 when we played Preston in front of 1700 fans on the way to dropping down to division 4. Reading FC are life not just the Premiership.

I was talking to my brother after the Leicester home defeat a couple of months back and we agreed that we would still go if we were in the Conference (a bit like Oxford,ha ha) the only difference being that it becomes easier to get served a pint at half time and you have fewer plolastics to trip you up.

Despite this thread being an obvious wind up, I do agree with those who say you support your team for life. Despite moving to Derbyshire in 2006, I still attempt to follow the Royals home and away. I try to get to 10-15 games a season ( managed 11 last season and 7 so far this...I know C +, could do better .) I also listen to every game I can't attend on Player. I would never change the team I support. Its the same with my cricket team. I am now a member of Derbyshire CCC, as I've been going to watch them ever since I moved up here. I've always loved cricket, but never went to county games in Berkshire. So I am probably the only Reading fan who watches DCCC. I have been know to wear my RFC shirt to DCCC games. I will carry on supporting both teams, despite them both being utter sh**e at the moment, until I die.

I believe in supporting my local team so during 25 years in the RN I have had season tickets at Portsmouth, Plymouth, Gillingham and St Mirren to name but a few. I now watch Reading again because I live here and so support my local team.Wish Basingstoke town would buck up though....

I'm not with you on this. When I was in college, Arsenal was my local team, and I went to watch them and cheered when they scored, etc. But even at the time I remained a Reading fan and have done ever since, even though I've lived almost the entire time over 3000 miles away from Reading.

I was born around the corner from Highbury. As such been a closet Arsenal fan for years and regularly went to Highbury when the Royals were not playing.

Been watching Reading since around 1971 home and away though.
Have also been a ST holder at Reading since the Mad Stad days
Will be going to my first Arsenal game in the Emirates home end on Wednesday vs Bolton (Been in the Reading end twice!)

I cannot understand how any person can get so much flack for dare mentioning they will not renew the ST next season. I have had a ST since 1975 and yes even have the programme for the preston match amd was there when he played Orient in the autoglass [ or whatever] at the Madstat with 1500 in attendence.

My choice is not about results [ seem enough crap runs over the years] ,but a total loss of heart and passion for it all. I used to leave Elm park and listen to the footie results at 5pm driving down the theale bi pass and get home for 6pm. Now I am still in the car park waiting to join the charriot free for all leaving the madstat and get home closer to 7pm.

For years i felt connected with the club , in fact i was the first shirt sponser of Shaka, but now the only connection seems to be a bloody free eater bunny from waitrose or vouchers for resturants in reading.
Does anyone think ST will drop next year in league 1, i have worked out the total cost of me going to reading is well over £1000 per season , that is a the cost of a holiday.

Unless the club accepts mistakes and offer a good incentive to existing ST holders, not selling matches cheaper than i have paid up front, as a consumer i will just not renewal. I may end up regretting, but all things come to an end.
