Scarface
Barry the bird boggler Now watch normal service be resumed v Forest/Sheffield/Barnsley etc.

Well said mate, personally I'm still thinking about Plymouth away and the utter shite served up. Although it was a fantastic result I was frustrated to see the players work that hard, when clearly they don't in league games.

eh?

jeeezus, get a grip

Just mulling about before I catch the train home, what ridiculously magic FA Cup story that was! It looked like it was going to be one of those when Ivar (?) headed wide, and Jobi's moment of magic was cut short, but justice prevailed! Was absolutely speechless after the game, but managed to regroup and had a cracking night out in Liverpool too!

Very unimpressed by Liverpool as a club, poor atmosphere. Number 13 sang their hearts out all game and were a credit to everyone connected with RFC, as of course were the players.

I had an absolute nightmare of a journey up yesterday, and the snow had made planning the trip expensive and stressful. However on reflection, to guarantee a match like that I would've walked up to Liverpool!! Made all the hard work worth it!!

Yours, one very very proud Royal,

I was really pleased to see Shane Long (or Sean Long according to Steve Ryder) win the penalty and score the winner. He's come in for a lot of stick lately, much of it justified, but yet again has had a massive impact from the bench.

As for the penalty, I can't believe people are calling it dodgy and saying he dived. I doubt there's a single player in profesional football who wouldn't have gone down in those circumstances. To call it simulation/cheating is absurd - if someone taps your ankles you're entitled to go down. The issue I have with diving is when no contact is made or when players feign injury to waste time/get opponents into trouble.

It was one of those "you've seen 'em given" types of penalties.

looked fitter last night too, shed a few pounds after his injury and suspension lay offs
well played to the lad- hes got it in him, but needs to produce it regularly if he wants to continue playing here after this season
really pleased for him

I still can't quite believe it...

Is anybody feeling slightly odd this morning? Like all of last night was a huge dream? I definitely am.

What a strange feeling. I still can't believe we beat Liverpool so convincingly, I'm expecting to wake up any second!

Big kudos to those of you who battled for hours through the terrible weather and the threat of it being off anyway (not to mention the cost). The ITV comentator, when Reading were 2-1 up and the camera showed the Reading section, said "This will be one of those 'I was there' nights". And yes - you were there!

Alright, then...I was there!!!!! Battling to the game wasn't quite how I would put it as I now live near Stoke, so it was an easy 80 minute drive. However little effort it felt like to get there, though, doen't matter as it was an astonishing night to see that unfold in the flesh. I'm not a singer or a chanter, preferring to watch the game to standing at right angles taunting the opposing fans, but even I have no voice to speak of this morning. The effort and consistency of the support there was unparalleled...800 or 900 people outsinging 30000 for 120 minutes. On the pitch, the performance was incredible and you do wonder why it seems to happen in "big games". Let's just hope it now kicks us on to a comfortable mid-table finish...Gunnarsson is God.

Let's just say I would go ballistic if it had been given against us - Long could [and imho should] have stayed up.

But we deserved the win.

Anyone else glancing over their shoulder at our Simod Cup season? We beat, I think, 3 top division sides on our way to a great final - and got relegated.

I'd take an FA Cup win to get relegated to be honest :D

Stonewall penalty for me. Benayoun took the man, and didn't get the ball. It doesn't matter how hard you kick someone (or if/how the fouled player falls over), if you don't get the ball it's a foul. People (particularly Beglin on the commentary team) seemed to be getting very muddled about the rules. Fair play to Andy Townsend for surmising correctly and succintly on the post-match analysis.

100% agreement there is no question anyway, if the ref gives it it's a penalty, end of!

10/10 for the Reading fans tonight, atmosphere was superb, never stopped singing. Loved the final countdown in the last 10 mins of extra time.

Not all 10 minutes, obviously.

definitely a penalty, good decision.

If I was a Liverpool fan the straw I would clutch at was the "penalty" just before that should have been given against Bertrand for handball.

But then again, Liverpool clutching at straws at home to us in the tournament with your last hope of saving your season is ridiculous

Andy Townsend was quite categoric in his view that it was a penalty. Even so, full marks to Phil Dowd for having the balls to award it at Anfield at such a critical time in such an important game. Also full marks to him for not being swayed by the appeals from the Kop for penalties at every opportunity. Particularly liked the way he could clearly be lip read stating 'Not on my watch' when he booked their guy for diving.
