Are we going to have to wait again until after the season has started before we can get hold of this new kit, whatever it is going to look like?

Bit earlier than normal, they're learning..

Don't we usually have one or two who leak what it looks like by now?

rob the royal I hate the way these big company's roll out the same crap in different colours for all their clients... would it be that hard/expensive to come up with something original for each club?

There is a limit to the number of ways that shirts can be detailed. Consider the number of years that each kit manufacturer has been about and couple that wih the traditional colurs of a club. we are fortunate that we have chosen to play in blue and white hoops but there is a limit to what can be done with the basic template.

What's more the issue is the length of time it takes the club to get anything done. As stated elsewhere, many clubs have heir new shirts already available. Why don't Reading? What is the problem?

Yeah I understand that it cuts down how much thinking and designing they have to actually do... but I'd rather see Reading have a pretty basic looking shirt with pretty bog standard detailing that was different to what other puma shirts had than have last year's kit with the weird triangles around the collar that puma put on everything they made for everyone last year. Why come up with such outlandish and awful designs and use them on all their shirts? I can see the argument that there's only going to be so many combinations of things you can do with a football shirt but i don't see that that means that you would have to use the same template for all the shirts you make (well i do.. it's surely about saving them money and effort).

New kit has hooped shorts, ala the old Scotland kit.

Jonny Fordham on Twitter From what I've been told, there's quite a few interesting changes to the new #readingfc kit too

I hope the hooped shorts info is a load of old bollox!

If enough people don't like the shirt, then it is not beyond the realms of possibility to force the club to change it. Feyenoord fans did it 18 months ago when last season's Puma design was implemented on their shirts - they got their way.

Anyway, it's been relatively easy to predict what the kits are likely to be due to the basic template, but it's not so easy this year:

The common theme there with that random selection is that there is some "piping" down the flanks and a two-piece collar, similar to the 08/09 shirt. I just hope there's no poxy panel if we get that design!

Wasn't it grey and black hoops in 2007/08? All black dates back to the days of Pardew and Nicky Forster
