Gutted for Japan and Hiro. Enjoyable game though and they should be proud of the performance.

Thank you seahawk-san and guys.
Both sides have never reached last 8 in the past, and even though I have to admit we were an underdog, we both had some chance (less chance for us) to progress within 120 min. Japanese players both on and off the pitch made me so proud to show the sprits to work hard for the team and resilience for 120 min.
Yes, open football might be attractive to watch, but Not every county can play like Brazil or Argentine, so each national team should have some different kind of play style one another.
Through this World Cup in South Africa, we have shown how we compete with strong side as a Japanese football.
It is easy to call it just a defensive style, but I believe that we have shown much more than that.
Looking at South Korea team which I admire as a leader of Asian football, they showed some attacking football this time. They concede goals, but it was because they took risk to go forward. They knew what they were doing, and so were Japan.
We defence, then counter attack, get a foul, try to maximize the opportunity of a set play.

I believe that teams from Asian qualification (Japan, South Korea, and Australia) can give new dimension to world football, and (if Japan can find decent defenders like we have this time) I am looking forward our new challenge towards 2014.

Japan were excellent at this World Cup. The performance against Denmark was nothing short of scintillating, and one of the best 90 minutes played by any team at this tournament.

Hiro, don't count Australia as an Asia team. They are nothing less than impostors strutting uninvited on the Asian stage. The only good thing about their back-door qualification was that it let in the gusty New Zealanders.

Asian football belongs to Asian teams, and all Australia do is upset the balance between East and West Asia.

The Asian teams at this tournament have demonstrated the need for 5, 6 or 7 automatic slots at the World Cup.

Africa on this year's showing. But I think Europe could afford to lose the odd slot.

At the expense of Australia, for one. They should be kicked out of the AFC and go back to playing in their own continent.

There were no teams from West Asia at this World Cup. A travesty, surely.

Nor any from eastern Africa

That's a goddamned outrage wrapped in a sodding disgrace and slathered in miscarriage-of-justice sauce if ever one there was

Not good enough to qualify from the Asian stages means that quite frankly, they aint good enough to be seen on the World stage. No sympathy.

Nobody's asking for 'sympathy', chief. Just for teams to be playing in their own continent.

You'd support club teams doing what Australia did, would you? Celtic playing in England? Ajax playing in Spain?

europe already have to qualify through bigger, harder qualifying tournaments.
i dont think you can deny that historically at least, europe has the most good teams.

True, but still fairly weak teams make it through.

We have by far the most competitive teams, I agree. But don't we get almost half the slots?
