Mikkel Andersen gets new contract

by LoyalRoyalFan » 02 Aug 2010 17:00

Skysports.com understands Reading goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen has agreed a new deal at the club.

Reading have moved to tie down Andersenafter Greek duo Olympiakos and Panathinaikos were believed to be lining up moves for the Danish shot-stopper.

Andersen is highly rated at the Madejski Stadium and he was named as goalkeeper of the tournament at this summer's Toulon Tournament.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a successful loan spell at Bristol Rovers last term with the League One side expressing an interest in bringing him back to the club.

Andersen is tipped for a big future at Reading and the keeper is expected to sign a three-year extension to his contract at the Championship outfit.

Rumour is that he could be off on loan to Brizzle Rovers again as their original loan keeper got himself injured in pre season and has returned.

Not sure about this. I reckon people will take the Mikkel out of a keeper who can't spell his first name properly.

Well he's obviously someone of great promise. No doubt the gasheads would like him back, but I wonder if that's the best thing for him and for Reading. Surely it would be better for his football education if he could go on loan to another club and broaden his experience, otherwise, the same old.

This also could apply to Bertrand who presumably would be welcomed back at Reading (finances permitting). He's reported as being on the verge of a loan move to Notts. F. which again might be better for his own development.

(Apparently Andersen has ignored my opinion and has now definitely re-signed for Brovers)

McCarthy looked better than Andersen over in the Balkans on pre-season IMO

As the loan will end before the window even closes it won't have any effect on our longer-term plans for him this season. This way he gets games and gets fitter earlier.
