That's funny because I remember it being reported that he and Scott Davies had been told to look for other clubs and that their time at Reading was over. Does that mean they couldn't find anyone to buy him, or that Reading have had second thoughts? Any word on Davies?

I fear that no one wants to buy them.

Doubt we will ever sell Mooney but it is a shame for Davies and hope he finds somewhere permanent soon. He has not been playing well in pre-season judging by the reports of reserve games - perhaps his confidence has taken a big knock as he has been told he is not wanted.

I would imagine that sending Mooney out on loan is the next best thing. If he does well then Colchester, or someone else, will be more likely to make an offer for him.

Davies needs to find a similar situation.

I assume no one wanted to take them on permanently. Reading can't just get rid of these guys so long as they're in contract. Fortunately, Cissé and Matejovsky did get clubs after they were advised to look elsewhere: we'll save much more with them off the payroll than we would shifting Mooney and Davies.

Peterborough sniffing around Davies, er, if you see what I mean..

Mooney wages will stop him form signing for anyone for a fee. Reckon he'll keep picking up the dosh and let his contract run out. Then sign for one of his ex-loan clubs on a vastly reduced wage.

OS reckons Mooney scored a double, and set up a third on Saturday. We need a goal scorer at the moment, what with Long struggling for fitness, and consistently failing to score. Worth a decent shout for the first team imho, if his current form at Colchester continues.

We have Long, Hunt, Church and Rasiak ahead of Mooner in the pecking order. Add to this the youngsers then what is the use of the surplus Irishman?

Watching another plodding Long performance today got me to thinking why exactly Shane seems to get chance after chance and the likes of Mooney get shipped out without even starting a league game :|
