Schards#2 So are we getting anyone on loan?

Please tell me we aren't going to muddle through with our existing feeble attacking options.

You and the others posting negatively about Long must feel a bit embarrassed after his MOTM performance of Saturday - anything but feeble!

Long has never been consistent, and that is the problem. If he puts that level of performance in most games then people will change their opinions of him. One solid performance and a penalty isn't enough. Pleased for the boy, yes, but he needs to up his game like that most weeks, not play well then plod along again for a 5-6 games as has always been the case.

IMO since McD took over Long has had far more good games than bad ones. Why do you think McD keeps picking as the lone striker - well obviously because he is the best equipped to carry out that role.

It is hardly a flash in the pan. It was his persistence that set up the winner against Leicester as well - so he has played a very big part in at least 6 of our 8 points this season.

But for many of you he can do nothing right and probably never will.

Being the best of our bad bunch isn't that hard, and nothing to shout to loudly about.

LoyalRoyalFan Davies has joined Wycombe on loan.

Good for him. By his Facebook messages it sounded he was a tad annoyed by being a bench warmer!

Well in that case he should probably learn how to pass a football.

Long has scored one goal (yes it was a penalty but he won it to be fair).

And he's put in a couple of decent performances.

That's about it.

That's the bare minimum you'd expect from a lone striker so he's not exactly setting the world alight.

Compare that to Rooney who plays a similar role and scores for fun, or in this league Forster who did the same.

If you're going to have a lone striker he needs to do more than work hard and win a penalty or two.

Even Rooney has had a few problems scoring goals (not quite scoring 'for fun').

Mooney keeps on scoring - scored two in last two games for Colchester. Just can't understand why he's never been given a proper chance here ...

Mooney has 5 goals this season in 11 starts.

That's not exactly terrible. He's scored 35% of his club's goals.

Didn't someone suggest we need a goal-scorer?

Oh, wait, he's cr@p, like Kebe, Cummings, Bikey, Harte, Pearce, Steve Hunt, Griffin....

Dean Morgan has just scored for Chesterfield again, let's get him back because he has an excellent goals to games ratio in Yorkshire in Paint trophies.
As for Mooney:-
Coppell didn't rate him
Rodgers didn't rate him
McD doesn't rate him
Isn't that enough or are you in love with him as he is yet another Irishman?
Presumably Bono and The Nolans are your favourite singers?

Who has never played him, and chose to send him out on loan when we had a surfit of other strikers?

Why PRECISELY do people not rate this guy?

He has had two starts for Reading and scored two goals!
He has 5 goals in 11 starts for Colchester

2009 - 10 League 22 (08) 06 Charlton
2008 - 09 League 08 (01) 03 Norwich City
2008 - 09 League 02 (00) 00 Stockport
2008 - 09 League 01 (00) 01 Cork
2007 - 08 League 10 (00) 14 Cork
2007 - 08 League 09 (00) 13 Longford Town
2006 - 07 League 06 (00) 06 Longford Town
2005 - 06 League 02 (00) 02 Shamrock R
2004 - 05 League 06 (00) 06 Shamrock R
2008 - 09 Euro Cups 01 (00) 01 Cork
2009 - 10 Lgue Cup 02 (00) 02 Reading
2008 - 09 Lgue Cup 00 (02) 00 Reading

80 Starts 11 sub appearances 65 goals

In England 45 (12) 16 goals. That's hardly cr@p

Who knows, but he's clearly not done enough in training/rare appearances to convince 3 managers that he fits in with the style/formation they want to play?

Maybe Colchester are playing in a way that suits his style and is at a level where he can shine, ie is probably a little too good for League 1 but not quite good enough to be a regular at Championship level.

And anyway it's immaterial whether WE rate this guy - as mentioned, the management of the club don't appear too at this time.
