in the second half, just before their matey got injured, McD shouted to McAnuff "switch sides with Jimmy" - i then watched as he went over to Kebe and told him this, only for Kebe to shake his head.....McAnuff then just wondered back to the left hand side with McD throwing his arms up in a huff as to say "dont listen then".

If Kebe was out for long term would James Henry be recalled or is his Reading career effectively over in the same vein as Dave Mooney's?

Kebe maybe still has problems understanding the English language?

I think Antonio offers something diffrent to HRK. He looks as if he has the edge over HRK for skill, and we've seen a glimpse of his pace. Positive signs ahead....

Both players are investments surely, with Kebe and McAnuff, neither Antonio or HRK have something to offer other than being an impact sub.

But in a few years I can see Antonio being a good player.

With academy players getting extended runouts being a newish thing for me (only been supporting hardcore for 15yrs) I'm not too experienced with seeing them develop.

All our youngsters seemed rubbish when they started under Rodgers, (Siggy less so), but most of them developed into decent players.

It seems to me Antonio has the first touch of a blind elephant but then is this the sort of thing that can improve and have there been signs of that?

I've mentioned this elsewhere - but there is a real trend of youth players being over-rated on this board. I want to see them in the team as much as the next fan, but let's try and be a bit realistic - I still remember people telling me James Henry would be a Reading legend. He was gash consistently and people still raved about him. Granted, he is now doing a job for Millwall but he went there because he failed to make an impact here and his attitude stank.

Neither Antonio or HRK have made me go "wow" yet, but I respect it is early days and can be patient to see if they make an impact. I'm really fed up with "but I saw HRK in the reserves and he was awesome" and use that as a justification for his inclusion the moment McAnuff and Kebe have one off day. Come off the bench, make an impact, be considered for the first team. At the moment I have seen from the pair of them, come off the bench, do alright, still back up.

I agree with The Goat was Fed. Our youngsters are very over-rated on here and tbh i dont see Antonio or HRk being anymore then decent championship players and for HRK i think thats pushing it.
Also Scott Davies was over-rated as well, yeah he is a decent player but he again will be no more than championship level at best.

Our best youngster is obviously Sigurdsson who will go on to be a good premier league player and rightly so and he could possibly achieve more as, from what i have seen, he has a good attitude and is sensible (in regards to his comments about staying here and playing 1st team football).

Couldn't seem to find an Antonio specific thread so this will have to do.

A good 40 minutes from Michail yesterday, he looked busy and hustled all over the pitch, it was almost Hunt-esque. I hope this continues but the lad does need to improve on his crossing which is the only thing letting him down right now.

Question is can we give him the minutes he needs to become an even better player or do we stick with HRK as our backup winger when Jimmy comes back and loan him out again?

I like this kid a lot *no pedalo*.

I don't actually think he's that good but I love watching him play. He really barrels through challenges and is a strong as you like. Okay, his crossing is hit and miss but he tries so many that the law of averages means that the defence will get done by the good one. His unpredictability is key.

Once he gets his football brain in gear he'll be a really good player at this level.

Thought Michail was more of a threat in the wide position than any of the other three who played there at various times last night. It was an ideal situation for him as Norwich were sitting back and letting us have a go at them and judgment on him as a player overall will be easier once we see what he can do in a four man midfield in an away match for example.

However I don't imagine full backs enjoy playing against him with his strength and unorthodox style so he is showing a lot of promise.

Indeed. And nobody, including himself(!), not knowing what is part of the excitement.
