Hoop Blah Managers also make plenty of mistakes too. They get too reliant and attached on their 'favourite' players and ways of doing things.

To think they don't get it wrong or that things couldn't be improved upon is a slightly warped view of things.

When have I ever said they don't get it wrong?

They are just a lot more professional, more aware, more considered, less knee-jerk than YOU and every other fan.

After all, at the end they are betting their livelihood.

Then why come on here and debate anything? Team for Leeds: "McDermott will pick the best side available, so we might as well just wait to see what he thinks." Back from the game: "we lost but McDermott did what was best so there's little point in talking about it." New signing: "If there had been any better player available McDermott would have signed him, so this must be the right move."

:?:

Because it's fun to watch knee-jerking twits making fools of themselves game after game, season after season.

Kebe will never be a player.

Cummings will never be a player.

Long will be gone at the end of 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010

I'm not sure there's a political element to what McDermott said about the incident. He's just one in a long list of people who seem to support my view rather than yours.I'm loving your use of END OF by the way.

Of course it's political.

He MEANT, "I couldn't give a flying oxf*rd whether it was a red or not.
The stupid oxf*rd acted in a way that made the red possible, and we got
out of jail. I don't care whether Hartey was hurt or not, we got their
dangerous number nine sent off, and got a draw when we looked
like losing 0-5. Wooooop-de-dooooodee!!!"

You mean the way he keeps praising Shane Long and picking him to start every week?

You're right, I guess

They're harldy bettering their livelihoods, if they fail they get a lovelly fat payoff and probably walk into another high paid job where they can cock it up again thanks to the old boys network.

If you want to back up you claim that I make knee jerk judgements I'm willing to listen....

No wriggling at all from this end, don't judge us all by your standards.

I didn't rate Kebe, and still don't to a certain extent, but that wasn't from a knee jerk reaction. That opinion was formed after watching enough of him play to recognise his limitations.

He's had a hell of a run of form under McDermott which has made me eat my words over his effectiveness at times. I may have been proved wrong (I'd still argue not to an extent) but it certainly wasn't a knee jerk judgement.

Try again.

You often talk about managers knowing best and that you trust the professionals.
As HB says they often get things wrong and are quite capable of making the wrong decisions.
Sometimes decisions are taken out of their hands and fortunately with Harte apparently injured the decision to drop Harte will not have to be done by the manager this weekend and Armstrong can return to his rightful spot, something that should have happened weeks ago when his fitness became clear.

You really need to work on your thought patterns.

(1) Are YOU specifically being accused of knee-jerking?

(2) Were you implicitly or explicitly accused of forming your Kebe opinions in a knee-jerk fashion?

See?

But the brighter football brains knew Kebe would come good.

Kebe has come good.

Long will be a great player

RELATIVELY. I trust the average manager a thousand times more than all bar the top 1% of knee-jerking, blinkered, often vindictive fans.

When did, say, being an accountant, or a plumber, qualify someone to pontificate over a player
and challenge the inside knowledge, the 20-50 years FOOTBALL experience of a professional manager?

It's just the prattle of the masses

So not for the first time, the question has to be asked, what do you possibly hope to gain from a discussion forum. And are you part of the 'masses'?

Ian Harte is now the highest-placed Reading player in the Actim Top 100

He's 61st, immediately above Jobi, but has played four less games.

Of course. Far better to consider the blinkered few of the
non-playing radio-listening amateur short-arsed public.
