We didn't come in a taxi...our 'epic' journey consisted of the 20 minute drive in from home, park up near the station, leisurely pint in the newly re-opened Alex before the game and again afterwards in the Brunswick, then some jousting with the Xmas Shopping traffic before arrving back home at about 6.15 8)

Fair play to the real heroes who struggled in from down South and elsewhere...I reckon there was around 250 in the away end in total and when they all disappeared at half-time to try to warm up a bit, there were less than 20 of us stood around for a while helping the brass monkey look for his lost body-parts...never been so cold at a game in my life, I think.

But well worth it for a decent performance, especially the saves from Fed and the overall work and goals from Longy. It was a pen all day long AND he was caught when the Derby fans started booing him for "diving". Derby were very much the architects of their own downfall and we took full advantage of that.

From the highlights only, it looked like Shane was, let's say, going to ground somewhat easily. Stole a load of free-kicks out wide by just falling over under the slightest contact.

Good win for the boys though - possibly fortunate but then we should've won one of the previous 5 matches so deserved a bit of luck

Shane has taken over the mantle from Lita for best comedy dives.

tbf im sick of being the self righteous types whose players dont go down when clipped/pulled back and am more than happy for a player to do so when it happens. everyone else does.
every one of longs" dives" was a s a result of being clipped or pulled back, therefore legitimate. therefore not a dive at all.

Derby looked VG going forward but WERE we "fortunate"? We could have scored six.

We had the ball over the line, not given, scored two goals, Hunt and Church had two very good chances, Long hit the bar with a nice glancing header.

Sure Derby had their chances, but Federici is there to stop them. Their only bit of bad luck (although technically is simple poor shooting) is when they hit the inside of the post

One? At least four of the five I would say.

I bet you also bemoan the fact that football is increasingly becoming a non-contact sport though....

It's very rare that we agree but this is one of those rare occasions.

For those who feel Shane dives, could I suggest that they try a sprint over fifteen metres whilst someone alongside them makes just the faintest of contacts with one of their legs. If they are sprinting properly, I can assure them that they will find themselves 'diving'.

Matt Le Tissier who did the Sky match commentary for the game said the Reading fans all came together in a taxi!!

Which was undoubtedly held up by the abnormal load transporting his nose to the stadium!

He didn't say it. He just said that Derby fans were singing it.

I thought for the first goal the defender made a "grab" for Shane's shoulder/arm?

Shane goes down easily but I've yet to see him 'cheat' the ref into making the wrong decision. Each time there's been a foul and often if he stayed on his feet he'd be disadvantaged but probably not get the decision so fair play to him for going down as and when its necessary.

Thought there looked like an ankle clip (tap implies deliberate which I certainly don't agree would be the case if there was contact), but another angle made me think there was no contact there. Definite tiny half hearted tug on his torso. Very soft pen, but a pen nonetheless the second Long went down.

RB's arguement is flawed given the number of times in a game you'll see a player get caught and carry on running. I've also managed to keep going on a number of occasions when i've been clipped and my centre of gravity is considerably higher than Long's.

It's not at all flawed if a player is sprinting properly. There is a big difference between running and sprinting. As a middle distance runner I quite often got a heel clip, stumbled but managed to recover and carry on running. However, when I was right up on my toes sprinting at full place in and got caught, it usually led to me falling. As for your own experience, I would suggest that not only is your centre of gravity considerably higher than Long's but also your time over a 15-20m sprint!

Time matters not a jot if I was running as quick as I could on my toes surely.

Don't think he clipped him anyway.
