MmmMonsterMunch Surely there are 2800 fans with 1600+ points?

Can't see many being left for midnight....300-400 max.

What a fcuking shambles. Beggars belief that 2-3k RFC fans that want to go won't be able to. Screw the coach travel...I'm sure most of us would happily make our own way there if everyone who wanted a ticket could get one.

I really hope we earn a replay so those who missed out can get another chance to go.

Just to rack it up a little, the AST holders get their automatically irrespective of points total.

I'd suggest very few AST's don't have 1600+

moo Buy a season ticket, get the pts, book man city tickets, cancel season ticket.

Club gets what it deserves.

Luckily I have enough points to get one tomorrow but feel very sorry for those that can't apply until the Tue.

Why the drop from 1600 to 600? Utterly ridiculous & very unfair. Should've been staggered so 1600, 1200, 800 then general sale.

How many AST's do we reckon there are - approximately? I would guess about 200 or so?

So that leaves 2600 for those with 1600 pts. I would expect the max available for midnight on Tue will be 600. Doubt it will even be that!

The cynical part of me thinks they saw a number of members on 1350 ish pts so set the limit to 1600 knowing people's hands would be forced with regards to ST renewals but in reality is it just a huge cock up!

What i posted earlier and though a cynical comment, shows the feeling of being let down and manipulation that some will feel after we sell out.

I think City forced Readings hand a little, I would imagine that they offered us the 5,800 tickets that they were obliged to but on a sale or return, this being the cup allocation.
If we didn't want to take that many they probably said it's either the cup allocation of 5,800 or the league allocation of 2,800.

Just think Reading missed a trick with how desperate they are for season ticket holders.

Why not take the full 5,800 tickets and offer the free travel to anyone with above a certain level of points, anyone renewing their season ticket at point of purchase for a cup ticket and anyone purchasing a new season ticket for next season.

This way it may have felt like a £20 discount off the season ticket and a reward for our most loyal fans.

And I reckon 5,800 cup tickets sold!

LoyalRoyalFan So is there any chance Reading will get an extra allocation?

No, because having made the categoric commitment that they would have provided free coach travel to everyone if we had got more than 2,800 tickets, they now face a massive financial disincentive when it comes to pressurising City to let us have more tickets.

philM
Royal Lady in fact, if the tickets were, as per the FA website, on sale or return - why on earth wouldn't we have asked for about 5k - and just sent back the ones we didn't use (LOL).

The 2800 was an initial batch, the club are saying they left it too late to get any more (ie by Wednesday last week), because they didnt see a need for them at that stage. Because nobody had thought of the free travel.

Unbelievable.

And when they were contemplating free coach travel not one of them appears to have had the brains to realise such a scheme would increase demands for tickets and create an even bigger mess than they were already facing due to their ridiculously low initial request.

Perhaps they should have taken a look at the numbers that less well supported teams have taken to City and other big clubs.

Could someone please provide a picture of the moron responsible for this almighty cock up. I fancy making a vodoo doll!

Finally, I trust the person responsible will not be taking up a seat at the game.

leicsRoyal Spoken to a friend of mine who is responsible for all retail and marketing at the Walkers Stadium, including the ticket office.

He says the complications are caused by Man City closing their upper tiers for cup games. It's like a club with a 46,000 capacity moving to a 30,000 capacity to hold this game.
In saying that the club still need to offer an away allocation of the full capacity of the ground, a minimum of 15%.

In his opinion both clubs would have reached an agreement on the allocation with Reading stating how many they thought they would sell with a response from Man City along the lines of ' are you sure as we will sell the other tickets to our own fans '

Reading have covered their backs and not had to pay for tickets that they won't sell and City have covered there backs and only needed to give a standard league allocation to away fans, thus minimalising the need to move even more fans from those in the top tiers.

He said that this seems to be a joint decision which due to unseen demand from Man City and unseen demand from Reading due to free travel has now back fired. He also stated that the opening of the top tiers is not impossible but becomes unlikely as the club will have very little time to liase with policing requirements etc.

Exactly how I see it. I've said earlier on that both clubs have totally under-estimated demand for tickets. We will have the ridiculous result of a 1/3 rd empty ground with thousands of people denied tickets.
Is this really the 21st Century?

If City open the upper tiers to GS tomorrow they have to offer Reading some extra capacity.

If policing is an issue, then surely a couple of TVP's finest can hop along for the ride on each of the free coaches.

They can watch out for people drinking at the same time so double whammy.

Why do they have to offer Reading extra capacity?

Reading took their allocation long before it was announced that the top tiers would be closed.

Wizard RL, I'm a bit annoyed and I'm almost certainly not going. But what is done is done. Aint gonna change anything now.

:

One thing damn well should change - the people running this side of the club's operations.

The best way to reward loyal fans is to make sure as many of them as possible are able to get tickets to see the big games that their team is involved in. It's not providing free sodding coach travel!

That is bleeding obvious to everyone bar, it seems, a group of morons at RFC.

They would surely have enough time to sort out the policing issue with still a week to go. Man City have messed up big-time here. They face huge criticism from their own fans who are being moved from their seats in the upper tier to a lower tier because of the decision to close part of the ground. What happens if they decide to open up the top tier? Do they then keep their STH's in their original seats having already allocated them seats in a lower tier.
Absolute shambles.

Way too sensible/clever!

If they were worried about sale or return, they should have forgotten about the free coach travel and kept the money back as an insurance policy to cover any unsold tickets. Even if 2,000 had remained unsold (extremely unlikely) I reckon the cost of paying for them would still have been less than paying for free coach transport for 1,500 -2000 supporters.

Regardless of all of this, they should have planned everything far earlier than they did (even if that did involve what if scenarios based on an unlikely win at Everton) got the announcements out on Thursday and tickets on sale from Friday with more, narrower bands.

brendywendy 14 posts on free travel offer. 20 pages moaning about the tickets.

Maybe that has something to do with the fact that free coach travel is sod all benefit when you can't get in to see the game!

I trust Madejski is enjoying seeing any kudos from his genorosity p*ssed away due to the complete incompetence of some of the staff he employs!!
