Recieved mine, didn't have to sign for them despite all the "Signed For" stickers on them!

Recorded delivery ARE signed for by the postie. It's the delivery that's recorded, not the receipt.
It would need to be Registered post to have the whole process signed for, including receipt by you.

Just got home and have a we tried to deliver you something but you need to sign for it so off to post office Thursday morning to sign for them - assume its our tickets...

RECORDED delivery are mean't to be signed for by the customer, a postie can sign for this with your agreement, although he may just post it and not bother with the signature (against the rules), sometimes they can get mixed up with your other mail and be posted by mistake. TRACKED items can be signed by the postie. I'm a postie and rest assured I will be stretching out on my 10,000 seats!
