Royal Lady Accountable to who? I bet the red card isn't rescinded. The refs assoc will back him up. It's a farce.

The ref can only have given it for it being potentially dangerous. Bit like Gunnarsson's a few years ago. I can just about see why he might think that. Had Rodwell missed the ball and got ankle it could have been very very nasty, although he looked pretty in control to me. May have looked worse from the ref's angle, I guess.

The red can only be rescinded if the ref gave it for doing something Rodwell didn't do, not because of a dubious interpretation of intent or potential danger from the challenge. If the ref's given it for being potentially dangerous I don't think there's anyway a committee can rescind it.

Ref had a howler though and should have shown at least one more red if not a couple.

On the subject of refs explaining decisions I completely agree. But given the media circus desperate to blame them for results and expect them to get everything bang on, I'm not surprised they don't. They're damned if they don't and they'd be damned if they do.

You are all moaning about refs but how many of you would be one? Probably none. Numbers of qualified referees are low because there is no incentive. Its literally a no win situation for not very much money and pure abuse if you get a decision wrong. If we want the standard of refereeing to go up, you should make them full time referee's on wages to match the standard they are reffing. There are players out there getting 250k a week and refs get what, 500 quid for a prem game or something as low as that?

Start offering big money for refs, proper training academy's, proper structure for the best ones to get promoted/relegated depending on form and we will all profit. You have to look at the route of the problem and that is simply a lack of quality referee's not just in England but the whole world. You are never a hero, always a villain. Paying them bucket loads more would attract more people to become reffs as its worth the abuse if you become wealthy.

Halsey gets a penalty decision wrong. Foul inside the box but gives a free kick.

Shocking call that one. Less bad, but still wrong, was the lino's call about Jarvis not keeping the ball in.

Yep, cost me a Doyle goal and Jarvis assist in the Fantasy

Norwich looked really good at OT, should have grabbed at least one and really could have caused an upset

PL ref's get a basic wage of £70k a year plus over £500 for each game they do which can take their yearly wage up to around £90k - £100k a year.

As I have said quite a few times on here, a good friend of mine is a football league ref and he knows how obsessed I am with football so shows me loads of stuff I shouldn't see. He sends me his match reports, regularly lets me play around with his FA login so I can read up on other match reports and see official info from the FA that gets sent out. What officials have to go through to get to where they are is unbelievable and I don't know about PL officials but the rest are treated pretty badly.

There is a lot going on behind the scene's to improve standards at the FA & UEFA, I know that they took some good young officials last year from all over Europe (inlcuding here) and got them employed full time living in Switzerland and training there for 2-3 years to improve them.

i wonder if gartside's patience will hold out for another month. bolton haven't had an easy start and have lost some key players, and they don't have a big enough squad to take that. having said that some of coyle's signings are disappointing. i mean, ngog! you were always asking for trouble throwing good money away on him; and chris eagles. these are championship signings.

Very encouraged by the emergence of Wellbeck and Sturridge this season for England.

Judging by Gartside's past record, before sacking Coyle he will table a suggestion to the Premier League that they should cancel relegation this season.
