But if you look at the stupid market at the moment; £50m for Torres, £35m for Carroll, £4.5m for Mills (whereas a few years ago it was only £500k for Andy Hughes) perhaps it's not unreasonable to be ludicrous.

Wax Jacket

Simon Church worth more than £3m

sort of puts a doubt in my mind regarding the article

If he plays the season and gets 15+ goals it's not far off really. Combine him with HRK getting another 10 goals playing a fair amount and together they could easily command over £3m.

If someone bids £3 million for Church, I'm putting him in my wheelbarrow and delivering him myself.

bolton's esculating debt

cmonurz It's not owed to banks, in the most part, so not as critical a situation as some. The sale of Cahill in January will help a bit, but other than that the club seems to have little wiggle room left.

debt to 2010:

as you say their debt is largely owed to their owner, but at a cost of £4.5m per year in interest - a healthy investment by davies.

interesting read and just highlights what a state bolton really are in, and it'll be a lot worse almost 2 years on.

Are they really now?
The owner is owed most of the debt. So if they go down, they can just enter administration, then the owner can just vote for whichever takeoverbid he wants, which of course will be some sort of shill-company of his based in Bermuda or something, or something Peter Ridsdale helps him set up, and then he'll be back in debt free, or the new owner Alexandre Gaydamak will be back in debt free.
Seen it so many times before.

The only sollution to this problem would be to change the law so that when voting for whichever takeover bid should be prefered in administration cases, debt owed to the current owner or any of his companies, may not carry a vote in the matter.

There isn't too much benefit in that though is there? Most of the debt is his own so he will also be writing that off. He may end up with the club when it exits administration but it will no longer owe him £85m.

Fair point. Doesn't seem right, does it?

Interesting article BTW. Another  - the Sky TV money comprises 81% of Wigan's total revenue!

Ex-actress and model Sybil Danning has revealed that she would be keen to take over League One outfit Sheffield Wednesday.

The Austrian, now 64, has starred in a number of films, and was a Playboy covergirl in the 1980s.

According to The Sun, Danning and her husband Horst Lasse are serious about a bid for the Hillsborough club.

"We have been looking into buying an English team with a strong fan base and great potential," Danning is quoted as saying in the paper.

"Sheffield Wednesday matches those ideals. It is one of the most famous names in English football and, even though it has suffered in the last few years, we believe we can give it the energy needed to get to the Premier League.

"We have been studying this for the past month and if negotiations go well we hope to conclude an agreement to buy the club."

Danning and Lasse have experience of club ownership. The couple were shareholders of SC Riessersee, a struggling ice hockey team in Germany almost a decade ago.Their tenure staved off the threat of bankruptcy.

Lasse at the time described himself as an investor rather than a patron.

"I'm not the rich uncle from America," California-based Lasse said.

The Owls are currently owned by Milan Mandaric, who took over at the end of 2010 and agreed to settle the club's debts as part of the deal.

He is reported to be prepared to sell to owners who can take the club forward.
Having finished 15th last season, Wednesday are third so far this campaign and in the hunt for promotion to the Championship.

Presumably she passed the "fit" part of the "Fit and proper" test a while ago

Plymouth now out of Administration - though the FL clearly have reservations, calling it a "leap of faith".....although oddly, the BBC report fails to mention this.

Can you say "quick buck opportunity"?

Truro City owe over £100,000 to HM Revenue and Customs and have not paid their players for a month.

The Blue Square Bet South side have been given until 16 January by the High Court to pay the bill or face a winding-up order.

Have no links to back this up but I'm told that Darlington's financial position is untenable and their only hope of survival is as an "AFC-Darlo" supporter-startup.

The stadium-related debts they've got hanging round their necks are killing them.
