Arsenal climb above Chelsea into 4th if it stays like this. However I feel there will be more goals in this.

what a state of affairs when you think Arsenal with a 3 goal lead or not safe yet?

I'm sure we won't hear the end of this.

At least Tottenham have won a trophy.

More would have been made of it had Spurs won and completed a rare double over Arsenal. This weekend's papers were full of 'power shift across North London' discussions but one must remember that is it (what?) 16-17 years since Spurs finished ahead of Arsenal in the league. Yes, Spurs won the League Cup in 2008, but they haven't won the league since 1961. Even England have won a trophy since then - think about it.

Spurs are still arguably the better of the two teams at the moment but Arsenal have been (largely) very very poor this season. If Spurs finish ahead of Arsenal this year and regularly over the next few years, we can then talk about power shifts but I can only imagine how much Arsenal fans must be enjoying this win. And they are entitled to, as (sad as it is to say) this was their cup final this season.

Largely very very poor? I don't think that's fair comment. Since accumulating 7 points from the 1st 7 games (I believe) they have been very good in the PL.

Granted they have occasionally looked crappy and leaderless but Wenger / Arsenal bashing has become so popular in the media and phone ins etc. that reality has been clouded.

By Arsenal's standards, largely very very poor.

Their last 10 league games before today.

Sunderland 1-2 Arsenal
Arsenal 7-1 Blackburn
Bolton 0-0 Arsenal
Arsenal 1-2 Man Utd
Swansea 3-2 Arsenal
Fulham 2-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 1-0 QPR
Arsenal 1-1 Wolves
Aston Villa 1-2 Arsenal
Man City 1-0 Arsenal

Before today, 14 points out of a possible 30. This is certainly 'not' very good, as you suggest, and you have (conveniently) excused the FA Cup & Champions League performances.

I haven't conveniently forgotten anything.

How did they do in their previous 10 games?

They have undoubtedly had some dreadful spineless performances but they have not not been "largely very very poor this season".

IMO of course.

They've truly mastered the element of in-consistency this season.

For a club who deep down see themselves as typical title challengers, this seasons' inconsistency does equate to being very poor.

18 defeats in the last 12 months - VERY unlike most other Wegner sides at Arsenal
