That Friday Feeling "totally written off for now" is just another way of saying deferred. As a football creditor every one of these players know they're going to get their money one way or another.

My heart bleeds.

Not quite. They'll be at the front of the queue for any money left over if they get liquidated yes, but that doesn't mean they'll get their money if there isn't enough to go around.

Ashdown had just broken into the first team at Reading and decided to take the money on offer at PFC. Do I feel sorry for him? Of course not. Do I feel sorry for him that so much of his money is tied up in an offshore trust? Of course not. Am I sorry that he can't get his hands on the money held in trust for him? Of course not! All the players know they are ripping UK PLC off in terms of unpaid tax and they don't give a toss.

Rumour has it that the striker Portsmouth are looking to bring in is Frederic Piquionne who just happens to be, a West Ham player. Doubtless the wages will be funded in full from East London.

Corrupt doesn't begin to describe this wretched game sometimes.

Well that's it then, he'll now go on to score 2 on Tuesday night and start Pompey's survival march.

Are Portsmouth not under a transfer embargo due to their finances? If so, through which loophole are they now able to considering bringing in players on loan? If it is being blamed on "lack of playing staff", then surely they had a big enough squad before they started loaning their players OUT?

They're on a one out one in because of their numbers. So Lawrence out - wages down + someone else in for free from West Ham. Which is a surprise given how honourably West Ham and Alladyce have always conducted themselves.

West Hams strikers:

Cole
Maynard
VazTe
Baldock

Carew
Piquionne
Sears (loan)
Nouble
and Montenegro

They could certainly spare a couple to Pompey on loan given Carew, and Piquionne would all probably make our first team and didn't make the bench on Sunday.

Portsmouth have still to play Southampton too, so a double bonus for the Hammers.

Still, I think if it happens it stinks.

This offshore trust that Ashdown gets his money paid into, can someone provide a link about it? Because the offshore trusts clubs use to avoid tax only work for foreign players don't they?

He doesn't say it's in an offshore trust, he just says it's paid into pensions and investments. It just means he hasn't got the proceeds of his career sat in a current account waiting for him to buy his next flash car or big watch.

Do I feel sorry for the players? Not really, for the reasons already mentioned above, but at the same time, it's not their fault they've been offered money the club can't afford and, as most people can probably appreciate, you tend to spend what you have so just because they earn silly money it doesn't mean they won't miss 3-6 months wages if Pompey can't pay it.

Even if they do sign Piquionne he wont have a chance to train with the squad before the game so its doubtful he'll start/play - if he does then he wont be much of a threat

I guess it might help if I read things properly. I believe SF is right about offshore trusts with the additional point that if a UK National was to have one, he/she would have to spend considerable amounts of time out of the country - something that a footballer would find difficult to do.
