Big Foot6ft Kerplunk Um, shouldn't this £800K be going straight to HMRC to pay off some of the outstanding tax bill? Or does going into administration mean they don't have to bother actually trying to pay old debts at the moment?
Football creditors rule would mean that HMRC are among the last people to see any money, I'd imagine

Mr Angry Just noticed this little gem on the BBC site for Pompey.....
If Pompey were relegated, they would lose about £1m of Football League revenue, and while some players have relegation release clauses in their contracts, others do not and the cost base for the club doesn't decrease that greatly.
In other words, even if they manage to find a buyer, relegation won't help them from a decrease of cost base perspective.
A long hard road lies ahead for Pompey, even if they survive.

Terminal Boardom The best thing that could happen would be for them to be liquidated. Unfortunately, this means the creditors may well be left high and dry as there are very few saleable assets. But from a purely footballing perspective, it is the best thing that could happen to the city of Portsmouth.

The creditors will be left high and dry whether they are liquidated or not. They're already only going to get 4p for every £1 of debt they were originally owed. How much was it Pomepy owed? £75m wasn't it? If they get their way that'll be reduced to £3m. And I bet they'll still struggle to oxf*rd pay that the dirty theiving scumbags.

Friday's Legacy failure to complete the next cva will almost certainly result in liquidation, and the loss of a further £1m a season in revenue, plus a drop in already poor attendances, portsmouth could be in a lot of trouble again next season.
as dare to dream said, perhaps that's a long overdue justice for portsmouth fc.

If they're liquidated a loss of revenue would have no effect - they will not be in existence.

i phrased that wrong, sorry. if they break the next cva then that's it, game over. if they go down with their cva but then have £1m less coming in, and their squad is as depleted as it is, then they are in big trouble once again. not only in covering the outgoings for the running of the club on low attendances, but needing to add several players to the squad, and balance the books without the £1m revenue they receive from the championship. they could very well be in another relegation battle next season unless a buyer comes in and throws money at them. without it, their outgoings are likely to far outway their income again.
