Not sure why he wouldn't - Mourinho gave him his start in senior team management, I would want to acknowledge those who helped me to arrive at the position I find myself in today.

It's the same speech as his first Reading press conference.

He didn't mention it, Lerner did. (Obviously had it pointed out to him by Rodgers though!)

Ah, OK. I don't have the luxury of being able to watch the stream etc, so have to rely on updates from the massed ranks of Nobbers - no wonder I don't get the full story...

And there was me thinking Rodgers had gone to Liverpool, but it's Aston Villa! Amazing the mistakes the newspapers are making these days.

The club scrapped plans to appoint a director of football.

"That was something I made clear I couldn't work with," added Rodgers.

Arrogant twat. Hasn't done BMcD or SSC any harm.

Livepool statement on website

At Liverpool, Rodgers' primary focus will be the first team but he'll also work extensively in collaboration with the new football operations structure as the team adheres to the continental football Sporting Director model. Further details on this structure will be provided in due course.

Tbf our DoF model is very different to the continental model that Liverpool were originally proposing.

In ours Hammond just goes out and gets the players Brian wants, what Liverpool were considering doing is bringing in players without the manager's consent. Can understand why Rodgers wouldn't want to work like that.

To be fair, he said he wouldn't work with just one director of football but was happy to work with a senior team/panel

Absolutely.

And tbh either way wouldn't make Rodgers an 'arrogant tw@t', he's just stating his preferred way of working.

So Dave Whelan says. However Liverpool say Rodgers was the only man they offered the job. So we'll never know.

Whatever.

Better a second choice who then is given a chance than a first choice who is given no chance.

Grant...8 months
Scolari...7 months
Hiddink...3 months
Ancellotti...23 months
AVB...9 months

Right, enough squabbling, how do we all think Rodgers is going to do at Liverpool?

I think he'll have them back in the top 4 within two years.

All of which served longer than Rodgers at Reading. (Except maybe Hiddink who took over to help out).

And?

To be fair to Rodgers, even he preceeded that statement by saying he "would as in all his jobs before....". It's not like he was making out that was anything other than his normal way of working and that Liverpool was some how more important to him than his previous jobs.
