What a fecker...
Runner up and go out knowing if we'd have just sneaked something we'd have had a great chance of making the final.
Or Win the group and have an ok chance of getting to a semi-final where we then get battered.

:|

I'm not denying that Spain or Germany are better teams than us but they're not so much better that I think it would be anything other than a two-horse race.

A little tongue in cheek. I think we can beat anyone, and we've even got a fair chance against most teams. I just think Spain play in a way we can't deal with and Germany are too ruthless for us, so the chances when you factor in our mental strength are very limited against those two.

I do have conflicting interests with Germany though... I have some distant connections that way and I find them a much more likeable team as a whole than England. Although I'd always root for England in any game between the two. Just.

TBM
Barry the bird boggler Yay Milner starts whoopee dooo

Walcott is better with half hour to go, Milner will do the donkey work and when they're tired Walcott will hit them with his pace

Indeed.

Plus if we come up against Spain in the QF's then there's no way we're not starting with Milner so might as well get some continuity going.

An impartial observer would be forgiven for thinking you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.

Maguire Scrape through to the knockout stages

I'll wager you £20 England don't

To be clear, you're betting me £20 that England don't make it out of the group stages?

Done.

Not sure I see where the context setting final part is. Either we can beat anyone or we can't. Make your mind up.

FWIW I haven't yet seen anything to suggest that England could beat anyone. Glimpses of possibility but still inconsistent at best.

For anyone else watching this in a Swedish hotel room, here's a link to the ITV coverage.

You must be one of those stupid ignorant England fans you were talking about on another thread Shades.

This might help.
so the chances when you factor in our mental strength are very limited against those two.

as might this.
A little tongue in cheek.

WTF is wrong with Terry? Superb interception / tackle the just punts it down field when there was an easier pass or he could have left it for Hart.

big problem with england this tournament is that their midfield seems to go missing, while you can get away with it against teams like ukraine or sweden aslong as you score one more than the other team i have a feeling other teams like spain or italy would punish them more

Apologies... There was me thinking you'd said we could beat anyone. Turns out, when the post is reinterpreted, you didn't. I also thought the "tongue in cheek" bit related to your previous post quoted by Zaretsky. My mistake.

Yep, should have scored, but we're warming up now. Young looking lively, Gerrard's passing on song for once, Terry has found his feet again.
