Archie's penalty My mate says it's worthy of the Office. Apparently he has a massive photo of himself in his house.

I read a review of it and the journo said that Rodgers comes across as "someone who went on a leadership course once and wrote everythign down".

Yes, this is it:

Just LOL at the comments section. Liverpewl fans are so over sensitive.

Wow, that's some article - he really goes to town on Liverpool football club.Very opinionated with little basis on fact IMHO. If a journo wrote something like that about Reading, I'm sure we'd all be a bit chuffed off, so I can't join you in criticising the Liverpool fan's sensitivity.

About the Being Liverpool programme, it is a little bit slow and mundane in places, but I actually quite like it. It shows us an insight into the life of a professional footballer, manager and football club - something that as fans we have been crying out for, saying we want more access.

One thing the programme hightlighted to me is that returning Liverpool to former glories is certainly not going to be a quick fix.

sandman If he's already written them down then how can they "make sure" they're not in the envelop?

Yeah, I found the envelope segment fascinating!

"I already know that three people are going to let us down this season and I have written their names in these envelopes. Make sure it's not your name in the envelope."

It was either a masterstroke in group psychology or complete balls. I guess we'll have to wait till the end of the season to find out.

He was done up like a kipper on the Dempsey transfer. He has said Carroll would not have left had he known he would not have been able to make an adequate bid for Dempsey.

The envelope thing was done by Sir Alex ages ago, before Manchester United won its first league title for 26 years in 1993, although that became public knowledge only when he released his biography several years later.

There are no names in the envelopes.

Then surely you don't agree to the player leaving until the deal for the replacement is agreed with the selling club.

It's like buying a house, you don't sell your until your purchase is sorted.

If I was a player I'd be well hacked off with BR saying "OK" all the time, very grating.

Actually, in this case all three cards say "Stewart Downing."

I noticed that, it's kind of his thing, isn't it. He reminds me of that bloke in South Park - "Drugs are bad, umkay"

Personally, I don't blame Rogers for that, but the people above him in control of the money. He has to have a certain amount of trust in what they tell him. I'm sure they've learned from it.

Agreed Stuboo, the implication is that Rodgers was stitched up a bit by those above him as he's come out and said, I think almost word for word, that he wouldn't have let Carroll go if they weren't getting in a replacement.

That the money men didn't get him the player they'd agree they would wasn't really his fault by the sounds of it.

However it happened it was a bit of a cock up, although I just don't think Rodgers wanted Carroll around as he'd just (perhaps in BR's opinion) prove to be a distraction and obstacle for what he wanted to do.
