Team for Manchester United (H)

by RedRum » 29 Nov 2012 22:37

Mine would be:

---------------------------- Feds ----------------------
--Cummings --- Morrison --- Mariappa --- Shorey
--McCleary --- Guthrie ----- Ledge ----- McAnuff
------------------ Alf ---------- Roberts ---------------

Guthrie is back in training and needs to come back in straight away. As shit as Ledge has been the last few games, playing Tabb would be too lightweight. McD has nothing to lose, may as well try Guthrie again. McAnuff needs to be moved back onto his better left side.

Don't think any other forwards would be any better, defence seemed ok to me on Tuesday.

What would your team be?

McCarthy & Karacan still injured but if they weren't, I'd have them in!

GK: Federici
RB: Cummings
LB: Shorey
CBs: Morrison & Pearce
RM/LM: Kebe & McCanuff (if Kebe still injured then McCleary in)
CMs: Guthrie & Tabb (if Guthrie not fit then it's a toin coss between Gunnarsson and Leigertwood. Leigertwood was so atrocious on Tuesday he doesn't really have a right to play. In fact, of D'ath weren't out on loan then I'd be tempted to give him a game.)
STs: Roberts/Pog & Hunt/ALF (they're all much of a muchness at the moment so it doesn't really matter)

Subs: Taylor, Harte, Marriapa, Leigertwood/Gunnarsson, McCleary (HRK if Kebe still injured), other two strikers

McDermott should do what Mick McCarthy(Wolves) did a few years ago and play all his crap players against Utd............ so unchanged line-up then.

If this is the case the FA are likely to fine themselves !

Guthrie would be less effective against UTD than L,Wood because he alone is not going to out pass them.

Guthrie would have been perfect against the Villa's and Norwich's as they don't pass that much.

Get him on the bench for this one.

Controversially i'd rather see Gorkss than Mariappa on this one. We're not going to stop them running at us regardless of who we play. We need experience, and we'd at least have dominance in the air.

Feds
Cummings Pearce Morrison Shorey
Kebe (if fit) Guthrie Legs Mcanuff
Pog Roberts

Guthrie is the only boy we have who has a slimmer of passing ability in the middle and I have to say was very tempted to put tabb in over legs. Only reason i haven't its legs does occasionally smash one in and is more physical. Pog and Roberts, worth a try, Alfie was awful vs villa (is he really the predator in the box we all think he is)

Some fair points. not a bad post, Kebe isn't training so won't be fit.

Hire a bricklayer and have him brick up the goals. Failing that, a sniper at the top of the East Stand to pick off the Utd players as soon as they get within 30 yards of our goal.
Failing either of these, it makes no difference who plays as it will be an arse ripping.

So you would rather us lose by 5+ and win a few headers? Gorkss is shit and at Villa our defence looked stable for the first time without bambi on ice there... Only if McDermott saw this months ago.

Hasn't Mariappa played CM in his recent past? He could just be the temporary answer to the strength we need to see there, allowing Pearce to come back in C Defence?
