I think definitely Cat 2 as a minmum.

It roughly translates that old Academies were equal to Cat 2, and old centres of excellence were equivalent to Cat 3. Cat 1 is effectively Academy + - the plus being education and residential facilities plus extra training hours etc.

As a reminder for anyone coming new to this here's a handy overview of how EPPP actually works, and what the criticisms of it are.

Minimum annual spend on academies for cat 1 is £2m, cat 2 is £1m, and cat 3 is £300k

Without knowing the ins and outs of where the club was heading under SJM, given how much money the club was losing per year and Sir John's diminishing wealth..I wouldn't have been surprised to see us try to do it as cheaply as possible.

Part of it was that the new floodlit artificial pitch was under construction in January (it's behind the dome - latest generation astroturf and full sized). We were still working on the required parents facilities and associated buildings when my lad trained on the new pitch at Easter. I believe that they're now either complete, or completion is imminent - this was a key stumbling block for CAT1 status when the January inspection took place.

I'm guessing that there must be some kind of waiver in place for circumstances where construction has started on CAT1 required facilities, but has not been completed at the time of inspection, in order to encourage clubs to carry on with investment plans, rather than shelve them for 3 years if they fail the inspection....

That makes perfect sense.

"This. Is. Typical. Of the kind of.....@RSE.....I have to put up with from you people! You ponce in here expecting to be hand-waited on hand and foot, well I'm trying to run a Hotel here. Have you any idea of how much there is to do? Do you ever think of that? Hmmmm? Of course not! You're all too busy sticking your noses into every corner, poking about for things to complain about, aren't you? Well let me tell you something.....this is exactly how Nazi Germany started! A bunch of layabouts with nothing better to do than to cause trouble! Well, I've had fifteen years of pandering to the likes of you, and I've had enough I've had it! Come on, pack your bags and get out! Raus! Raus!"

Thought Anton wrote very well in the programme for last night's match. He's clearly got a long-term vision in mind, which is nice to see, and there seems to be plenty of ambition behind his words. Obviously we'll find out whether he walks the walk this summer...but given the concerns over whether we were getting another foreign owner who couldn't really give a shit when he first came in - I think we can now say with reasonable confidence that we're in safe hands.

The thing is, too many simple minded fans will expect to see something like £5m-£7m spent on transfers, otherwise they'll call Anton out. It wont be like that!

The bigger picture is keeping this squad, or as much of them as possible together, and then add a couple of new faces for whatever cost. The cost of that alone will break most Championship clubs banks.

It's not about a £3m striker or a £2m midfielder. But for others it will be.

Is it possible to deduce what sort of budget will be available based on the league's Financial Fair Play rules that come in for next season?

So we've agreed to buy Bearwood Golf Club in the hope of turning it into a new training ground. That's a lot of land http://www.bearwoodestate.co.uk/

They must be confident of getting planning permission if they've bought without it, I guess Wokingham council are supportive?

Feds and Noel (if they're still here) will be able to pop across the road to training every day then!

We've agreed in principle to purchase 59 acres, not the who 380.

Not if the rumours the gold club is closing. It's been in a financial mess for some time.

It's a provisional agreement, probably subject to planning permission being granted...

I guess that if ever there was an doubt about Antons access to funds, this puts the doubt to rest.
Not only buying 60 odd acres of prime land in the Thames Valley, but then building a minimum of 8 grass pitches, 2 AstroTurf, plus all of the other associated facilities is not a cheap undertaking.....
