What if there are legal reasons why they can't comment, as is often the case in multimillion pound transactions, mergers and acquisitions?

Perhaps the club could come out and say "For legal reasons we cannot comment".
That's better than silence surely?

This makes sense if the reason for pulling out of the Everton deal was because Dad Zingarevich could not appear to be flush at that time - which is what I was told by someone definitely ITK
