Cureton's Volley
Extended-Phenotype If last seasons team wasn't good enough, why is this one supposed to be walking the league?

Last season we were playing (bravely) against Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal et al.

This season we are playing (badly) against the likes of Peterborough, Sheff Weds, Yeovil, Millwall... We've looked worse against this level of opposition!

Yet we haven't lost and had a penalty rightly been awarded to us against Blackburn we'd have been fourth. Not saying we are great but that comes back to my original point - why are we expecting THE SAME TEAM which was toilet last season to walk this league?

It is like when you date a woman who is out of your league--you aways make an effort, in case she dumps you. Whereas when you are dating a much easier, less demanding piece of stuff, you lower your standards somewhat and start taking things for granted. Hopefully, we will not be like Wolves and get dumped by her as well and end up dating a biffer.

...assuming we scored it and then held on. And if we hadnt been awarded that suspect penalty at Yeovil and scored after time v Leeds, we'd be where? Those 3 games v Yeo/B&HA/Leeds we got 7 points, deserved 2. Swings n Roundabouts, etc.

Fate?

Then it would seem your beef is with God, and not Adkins.

Dunno about you but I wasn't watching many games last season and thinking "it doesn't matter - we play like this in the championship and we will be unbeaten."

Only lost two, so quite close however.

im not the one saying we are toilet this year tbf.

we seem to be ok.
good in patches, poor in patches. plagues by injuries. new manager implimenting a new philiosophy etc.
im pretty happy

i just prefer the way we used to play.
im sure that will change once the new philosophy kicks in properly and we win more games

Nope, just standard variance. More commonly known as luck.

Me either. I'm pretty happy too.

Just saying to those expecting us to be top of the league, maximum points - dunno what team they thought we inherited this season.

No. My point is most definitely that Adkins has been at fault.

Why hasn't he utilized a system and style which played to our strengths?

I know he wants to change the brand/culture/style of football, but he will not get the chance if results along the way are not good enough to keep him in the post á la Rodgers. Furthermore, change is more successful when implemented step-by-step, rather than overdoing it then making a u-turn.

Plan
- Play with 2 proper wingers (on their favored sides)
- Get the ball out and ahead of them with urgency
- Hit the byline and either win a corner or cut balls back for Pog & Alf
- Happy for Guthrie to sit in front of the defence and control the play, but speed up the tempo
- Oh, and STOP FUCKING AROUND AT THE BACK AND CLEAR THE BALL UNDER PRESSURE!

Just FYI the pessimists, whike we're currently 4th I'm working on the basis we should probably find ouselevs 7th by sunday night. This doesn't change my generally sunshine disposition to how we're doing.

Don't agree with all adkins decisions but providing we finish top 12 he should defo get anotuer seasn. I expect him to have us in or just kising the play offs and we're not out of the running for the title yet.

I'd quite like us to finish in the play-offs then get to Wembley and win it.

It's another "tick" as a football fan - seen your team x, y, z etc.
